Southwest Airlines just announced that they are beefing up their rapid rewards programs for some travelers.
For flights booked and flown between now and August 31, 2010, travelers on Southwest will earn triple rewards on the following routes:
- Chicago Midway (MDW) ↔ LaGuardia, New York (LGA)
- Chicago Midway (MDW) ↔ Logan, Boston (BOS)
- Chicago Midway (MDW) ↔ Manchester, New Hampshire (MHT)
- Chicago Midway (MDW) ↔ Providence, Rhode Island (PVD)
Southwest claims that members can earn a free flight after just three roundtrip flights on these routes, making Rapid Rewards one of the best travel rewards programs out there for the next couple of months. Add that to any points you earn on your Chase Rapid Rewards card, and we’re talking about some serious pointage.
The only problem is that this is a pretty limited choice of routes, but it’s perfect for business travelers that find themselves traveling between Boston, New York, and Chicago fairly often. And to make it even more lucrative for the business types, Southwest is paying 3.25x points for members who buy a Business Select fare between MDW and LGA, and 4x points for Business Select fares between MDW and BOS/MHT/PVD.
