Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card Now Has EMV Chip-and-Sign
We’re pleased to report the Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card now features an EMV chip, making it even more attractive to frequent international travelers. EMV credit cards are now standard Western Europe, Canada and parts of Africa and Asia, to the point where some merchants don’t accept the traditional American magnetic stripe cards. With its chip-and-signature technology, the Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card increases the chance that your card will be accepted overseas.
EMV update aside, the Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card is a superior rewards card for frequent travelers and Marriott stayers. Cardholders get a big signup bonus: Earn 50,000 Bonus Points after you spend $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. In addition, you’ll be gifted a free night stay each year upon account anniversary. It has a $0 Introductory annual fee, then $85. It also waives foreign transaction fees, which will save all you wayfarers, on average, 3%.
All that’s without mention of rewards rates. As far as rewards, you’ll get 5 points per dollar spent at the Marriott; 2 points per dollar spent on airlines, car rentals and restaurants; and the standard point-per-dollar rate elsewhere. The Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card was a stellar option already, but, with the introduction of EMV chip technology, the offer is one globetrotters and Marriott frequenters can’t refuse.
