Where to buy Obamacare health insurance in your state

If you are looking for a health insurance plan, you have many avenues available to research, compare, and buy insurance through Obamacare.
 
Eighteen states and the District of Columbia have provided their constituents with new health care web portals. Not only do you have the opportunity to buy Obamacare health plans through your State-Based Exchange websites; these websites also help you to find the most affordable plan and subsidies, calculate costs and savings, and keep you updated on any Obamacare news and developments. These portals also serve small business needs and can provide you with resources if you need coverage immediately or anytime before 2014. The states and their portal links are listed here:

If your state isn’t above, it probably isn’t sponsoring it’s own marketplace. Don’t fret, you can still apply by:

 

  1.  …visiting HealthCare.gov—visit late at night or early in the morning to avoid high-volume hours. Make sure you have the social security numbers, W-2 forms, and other necessary documents for all individuals applying before shopping online.
  2. calling 1-800-318-2596—say the name of your state and representative, respectively, when prompted. You will receive your health plan offerings in the mail in a few weeks, but to if you’d rather receive your offerings right away, make sure to provide your email address to the representative.
  3. sending it through snail-mail—download, print, and mail an application to the Health Insurance Marketplace, Dept. of Health and Human Services, 465 Industrial Blvd., London, KY 40750-0001. It will take some time for your application to be delivered and processed, so just keep this in mind in case you’re worried about any deadlines.
  4. finding in person assistance—find the location, hours, and contact information for a Navigator in your area by simply entering your zip code.
