Best Senior Checking Accounts in Cities with the Most Seniors

You can trust that we maintain strict editorial integrity in our writing and assessments; however, we may receive compensation when you click on links to products from our partners. Here's how we make money.

Not all senior checking accounts are created equal. All of them offer special perks for seniors, but many banks offer senior checking accounts with minimum balance requirements or monthly fees that cancel out the benefits. A good senior checking account will have no monthly fees or minimum balance requirements and a little something extra, like free checks, notary services or interest on your balance. Where can you find free senior checking with real perks? Your local credit union, of course.

Best senior checking for the top senior cities

We looked at the 2010 Census to see which 10 U.S. cities had the highest percentage of seniors and reviewed senior checking accounts at every credit union in the area. We admit it: we’re credit union fans, so we began our search with optimism. However, we’re also nerds, so we know how important it is to back up your speculations with real numbers. You’ll be happy to know that we found free checking accounts for seniors at credit unions in all 10 cities. Not all the accounts are just for seniors, but all of them do have super senior perks. Check them out below and get ready to be amazed.
