Dell’s Black Friday sale, dubbed the “You Must Be Kidding” sale by the company, begins at dell.com at midnight EST Black Friday and runs until 11:59pm EST on Dell’s website. The sale will introduce new door busters every 3 hours, but we’re not sure at the moment whether the items listed in this ad will all go live at midnight or whether some of the items will be in the second or third rounds of going live.
The three premium items of the ad are the Inspiron 14z 14.1” Laptop, the Inspiron 660s Desktop and the Samsung Series 6 55” 1080p LED HDTV, which is actually available at dell.com on Thanksgiving. All of these items are pretty exciting buys – the Inspiron laptop is 50% off comparable market value (according to Dell) and the HDTV is 37.14% off market value.
The rest of the ad is very solid as well. The median price cut of the 20 items listed in the ad is 33.22% off, although be a little careful with the numbers Dell lists as “market value.” The Canon EOS Rebel T3i 18MP DSLR Camera, going for $749.99 on Black Friday, down from the $999.99 market value Dell lists on the ad, is actually selling for $799.99 currently on Dell’s website. Dell’s Black Friday price for the camera, then, is only $50 off, not $250.
This pricing practice is repeated as well on the smaller plasma Samsung HDTV, which Dell will sell for $579.99 on Black Friday. While Dell lists on its Black Friday ad that the HDTV has a market value of $899.99, you can actually take the HDTV off Dell’s website for $699.99 right now. It’s still a nice price cut for Black Friday, but not quite as steeply discounted as Dell might want you to believe.
Other nice items in the ad include the Inspiron 14z Ultrabook for $589.99, the Inspiron 15R 15.6” laptop for $499.99 and the XPS 8500 Desktop machine w/ 3rd Gen Intel Core i7. Remember that for most of the desktops featured in the Dell Black Friday ad, this XPS 8500 Desktop included, the monitor pictured with the desktop is sold separately and not included in the advertised price.
Also keep in mind that 5 items will be available at dell.com on Thanksgiving Day – the Samsung Series 6 55″ LED HDTV and Canon EOS Rebel DSLR Camera previously mentioned, the Nikkon Camera, the Samsung 32″ LED HDTV and the Samsung Series 5 51″ 1080p Plasma TV.
What else is interesting about the ad? For starters, dell.com makes the online ordering process free of many of the conventional roadblocks to online shopping. You’ll get free ground shipping on all PCs and electronics with no minimum purchase required.
Returns are simple, too, as you can send a product back within 30 days of invoice date for your full money back. You won’t be charged for shipping either way and Dell will also waive the restocking fee. Sending an item back to Dell, then, will only cost you your time.
The other refreshing point about the ad is that all the gadgets are of very good quality. Discount chains often offer cheap electronics on Black Friday in very limited quantities to get people in the door but the vast majority of the items in the Dell ad scan are reputable and reliable. Check out some of the online reviews before you buy if you’re not sold on quality – with this ad out on Nov. 1st, you’ll have plenty of time to plot and prepare.
