I am a small business owner really beginning to do alot of cash flow. I am placing 3,000-8,000 dollar orders a month. I am interested in flying miles and this looks impressive but my question is: Can these “miles” be applied to ANY airline? I currently have a frequent flyer mile program through Northwest. And should I look for a smaller APR instead? I only travel for pleasure with my family a couple times a year. Thank-you for your assistance. Teri Skinner

    Hi Teri,

Yes, these miles can be applied to any airline, but they can not be combined with any other frequent flyer programs. In fact, they’re not really “miles” at all, since you end up redeeming them for travel certificates that are effectively the same as cash. These travel certificates can also use be used for hotels and car rentals. We’ve had similar questions over at the Escape for Good Credit and Discover Miles pages as well, if you’d like to give them a look.

As for your question about a smaller APR, that depends on how likely you are to carry a balance over month-to-month. If you pay off your card every month, all that matters are the rewards, but it becomes a much more difficult question if you carry balances.

You should check out our Low APR Cards to see if any of them will pay you the rewards you’re looking for!

I was approved for the card but they are very stingy about credit lines.
