Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a designation issued by the Boards of Accountancy

Educational/Exam Requirements (varies by state, CA example):

  • A minimum of 48 semester hours of accounting and business-related courses
  • 14 hour exam testing auditing, financial accounting, regulation, and business environment

Prerequisites/Experience Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university, and
  • Two years of general accounting experience, or equivalent
