Foodies can now put in their order for the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard®. Chase has officially launched the $0-annual-fee card, which offers savings and rewards on purchases made with restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores, flower stores, pet stores, and other local and national retailers available on the DoorDash platform.

Here’s a menu of the card's offerings:

Valuable incentives

If you’re a DoorDash user with an appetite for value, the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® serves up several rewards, discounts and useful credit card protections.

Cash-back rewards

The card's everyday rewards categories include:

  • 4% cash back on DoorDash and Caviar orders from hundreds of thousands of merchants on the DoorDash platform.

  • 3% cash back on dining when purchased directly from a restaurant (online or in-store).

  • 2% cash back on purchases made directly with grocery stores (online or in-store).

  • 1% cash back on all other purchases.

Cash-back rewards can be redeemed for DoorDash or Caviar orders in the app, statement credit, direct deposits into a bank account or gift cards. Rewards don't expire as long as the account remains open.

A sign-up offer

Get a free year of DashPass (valued at $96) and, for a limited time, also a $100 cash bonus after spending $500 on purchases in the first three months of opening the account. A DashPass membership offers $0 delivery fees, lower service fees on eligible orders, 5% DoorDash credits back on pickup orders, and member-only offers including exclusive items and experiences.

After the free period of DashPass ends, you will be charged for the membership every time it renews until you cancel it. But if you spend $10,000 with the card each anniversary year, the complimentary DashPass membership is extended.

Perks and benefits

Offers include:

  • $25 off the first two Nationwide Shipping orders of $100 or more: To earn this discount, you must use the card to make the eligible nationwide shipping order through DoorDash or Caviar. This offer is valid through Dec. 31, 2023. Terms apply.

  • A 10% discount: Get 10% off the first order of $35 or more each month (up to $15 per order) on convenience, grocery, alcohol and DashMart purchases made with the card. This offer is valid through Aug. 31, 2023. Terms apply.

  • A $5 credit for DoorDash orders: As a DashPass member, you get $5 off of one DoorDash order every calendar month when you use the card to cover the purchase. This offer is valid through Sept. 30, 2023. Terms apply.

  • A $5 Lyft credit: Earn a $5 Lyft credit after taking three rides in one calendar month when you pay with the card.

  • Other cardholder benefits: The card provides an auto rental collision damage waiver, trip cancellation or interruption coverage, extended warranty protection and purchase protection.

Is it a good deal?

If you’re already a frequent user of Caviar or DoorDash, the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® can offer value back and defray some of the costs of spending with the delivery app, thanks in part to the card's healthy ongoing rewards rates. And compared to other credit cards that earn restaurant rewards, the introductory offers on this card are easier to earn. You don’t have to jump through any hoops to earn the complimentary first-year DashPass membership, and there’s a low minimum spending requirement to earn the $100 cash bonus.

The card’s lengthy list of limited-time discounts is also valuable in the short term, but the amount will depend on the timing of your application. If you can apply for the card in March 2023 and max out those limited-time offers, you could earn up to an additional $175 in value.

But casual users of DoorDash can do better. And note that if you plan on carrying a balance, the card’s rewards won’t outweigh the potential costs in interest. The ongoing APR is 20.24%-28.99% Variable APR. So as with other rewards credit cards, this card will offer the most value if you can pay off the balance in full every month to avoid that cost.
