The new bonus applies to these three personal Southwest-branded credit cards issued by Chase:

The downside to the change is the relatively high required spending to earn the bonus.

Companion Pass progress
Points earned from Southwest credit cards count towards the coveted Companion Pass. The pass allows one person to fly with you for free (you'll just pay taxes and fees, starting at $5.60) when you purchase your own ticket. You get the pass by earning 125,000 Southwest Rapid Rewards points in a calendar year or purchasing 100 qualifying one-way flights. It's good for the remainder of the year in which you earn it, plus the next full calendar year.
