When Is Amazon Prime Day?

Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money.

Born in 2015, Prime Day is the made-up sale holiday brainchild of Amazon. It’s a limited-time summer sale with an exclusive guest list — Amazon Prime members. In 2022, Amazon started doing another Prime Day-like event in the fall.

Amazon Prime Day 2023 was July 11-12, and Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days (basically Prime Day 2.0) is now confirmed for Oct. 10-11.

What is Prime Day?

In the retail world, Prime Day stands alongside Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a go-to shopping event for just about any product category. Past installments of Prime Day have included price cuts on everything from Echo devices to toilet bowl lights.

When is Prime Day 2023?

Prime Day 2023 was another big one, but it’s in the books. The two-day sale took place July 11-12 and served up some seriously low prices, plus competition from other big box behemoths like Target and Walmart.

When is Amazon Prime Day October?

Prime Big Deal Days, another Prime Day-like sale geared toward early holiday shopping, will take place Oct. 10-11. This second sale event is a good opportunity for savvy shoppers to jump into Black Friday early.

Amazon is touting “invite-only” deals for popular items and deal drops throughout the two-day event, which opens at 3 a.m. ET on Oct. 10.

What do you need to do?

If you want to shop the sales, you’ll need to be a Prime member. Amazon Prime costs $139 per year or $14.99 per month. New Prime members get a 30-day free trial before paying.

With a Prime Student membership, eligible college students and people ages 18 to 24 pay $69 per year or $7.49 per month after a 6-month trial. Some recipients of government assistance may also be eligible for a discounted rate.

And keep your options open. Amazon’s events tend to spur copycat sales from other retailers such as Target, Walmart, Best Buy and others.
