Wells Fargo No Longer Offers Student Loan Refinancing and Private Student Loans

Wells Fargo is no longer issuing student loans.

Wells Fargo stopped offering private student loans and refinancing student loans after Jan. 28, 2021.

Wells Fargo is selling and transferring all existing student loans, which means it will no longer service private or refinancing loans. All loans are being transferred to Firstmark, a division of Nelnet. Borrower should continue making payments on loans as they normally would.

Find a private student loan

Before you take out a private student loan exhaust your federal student loan options first. Submit the FAFSA to apply.

Compare private student loan options to make sure you’re getting the best rate you qualify for. In addition to interest rates, look at lenders’ repayment alternatives and the flexibility they offer to borrowers who struggle to make payments. You may also consider other lenders that don’t require co-signers.
