Thinking of moving with Atlas Van Lines? Here are five things you need to know.

1. It can handle small, long-distance moves quickly
Atlas has a service, SimpliCity, for handling long-distance small moves quickly. The service — generally for one- or two-bedroom households — comes with flat-rate pricing that includes all transportation, materials, loading, equipment and debris removal. The company's website notes that with this option, you're generally able to get your belongings within days; by contrast, a small long-distance move with other companies can take weeks.
2. Instant online quotes aren't available
Atlas Van Lines lets you request a moving quote online, but don’t expect to see your final price when you close your browser. You’ll start by entering details about your move:
Distance: Enter your starting ZIP code and choose whether you’re moving within the U.S., to Canada or to another international location.
Preferred moving day: Note the day you want movers to pick up your belongings.
Size of move: Select the number of bedrooms in your house or apartment.
Additional details: Note whether you have a garage, basement, attic, shed or storage unit.
Contact information: Add your name, phone number and email address so Atlas can contact you with a quote.
Alternatively, you can call Atlas at 800-638-9797 to request a quote.

3. The pricing method depends on how far you're moving
Local moves under 150 miles booked through Atlas will be typically priced at an hourly rate based on the total weight of your belongings.
For long-distance moves over 150 miles or across state lines, you'll generally pay a flat fee based on shipment weight and the distance between your current location and your new residence.
Whether you’re moving locally or across state lines, you won’t pay a deposit.
4. Add-on services are available
Atlas Van Lines is a full-service moving company and offers several add-on services to streamline your move:
Professional packing of household goods.
Transport for cars, motorcycles, boats, campers and other vehicles.
Piano, pool table and swing set relocation.
Secured, climate-controlled storage and self-storage options.
Note that if you’re relocating a grand piano, the company will have a special crew disassemble and reassemble the instrument for the move. While Atlas doesn't reassemble pool tables, it can help you find a local expert to put yours together at your new address.
5. You can complete a virtual walk-through through an app
The company has a free mobile app, called Atlas Video Survey, that allows you to do a virtual home walk-through with a mover via video chat to get a finalized quote. If you opt for this virtual walk-through, no on-site survey is required.
With the app, you can record your video survey at any time and archive it for review by Atlas personnel. Or, you can schedule a time to connect with a nearby Atlas agency, allowing you to chat live with an Atlas representative during the video survey of your items. Atlas notes that customers maintain the right to end the survey at any time and revoke consent for the company to archive the video.
