Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money.

HungerRush, formerly known as Revention and rebranded in 2020, is a restaurant software provider for full-service and quick-service restaurants, bars and pizza shops. The company's cloud-based point-of-sale system, HungerRush 360, combines POS software and in-house hardware options with restaurant management capabilities, delivery service, payment processing, customer engagement tools and digital ordering options. In October 2021, the brand acquired Menufy, an online ordering platform. HungerRush says current products and pricing will not change right now, but new packages may be offered in the future.

The system is best for food service businesses and restaurant franchises that are already large scale or are trying to grow by expanding their sales channels. The same goes for nationwide quick-service and drive-thru restaurant chains. The big question for restaurateurs is how much they're willing to spend and for how long: Pricing for HungerRush POS software and terminals is quote-based and clients must commit to a three-year contract.

How does HungerRush work?

HungerRush’s all-in-one restaurant POS system lets restaurant owners manage their establishments’ sales channels, marketing, delivery services and employees from anywhere. Its dashboard is easy to scan and provides quick access to sales numbers, percentage of employees on site and order counts. Other pages, like inventory and reports, can be accessed on the side or top bar menus.

Price

POS providers like HungerRush that offer quote-based pricing can provide a better value to higher volume merchants. This makes sense considering its clients include big names like Hungry Howie’s, Sbarro, Jet’s Pizza and Dairy Queen. As far as payment processing rates go, the company says it offers “competitive merchant services.” It’s also payment-agnostic, meaning clients can choose to use third-party payment processors if they’d like. The brand discloses pricing for some of its hardware accessories like receipt printers, cash drawers and monitor wall mounts, but not for its POS terminals.

Pros

Diversified ordering channels

In addition to syncing menus across all ordering channels, HungerRush helps restaurants create an online customer experience that’s in line with their branding. Customers can order by phone, at a kiosk, through a mobile app or online. Businesses like Jet’s Pizza also use HungerRush’s text-to-order services to make the ordering process even simpler.

Customer service

When reading about HungerRush on customer review platforms, it’s hard to ignore the amount of praise for its 24/7 phone support. In numerous reviews, clients say the company's staff responded promptly to inquiries and gave them and their employees helpful advice on how to resolve issues. The company also offers customized installation and training for newly onboarded restaurants.

Cons

Lack of transparency

It’s difficult to gauge how much restaurants should expect to pay if they sign a contract with HungerRush. The website doesn’t disclose pricing for POS software, terminals or payment processing.

Contract length

HungerRush’s three-year contract is a big commitment for smaller restaurants that are unsure how much they’ll grow during that time. This is just one of the reasons the product is a better fit for established restaurant chains. Another option for newer small restaurants is starting out with a free or inexpensive POS system. While switching POS systems down the road is a huge inconvenience, starting small could save money during a business’s first few years.

Alternatives

TouchBistro POS

  • Software pricing: Starts at $69 per month.

  • Hardware pricing: Quote-based.

  • Payment processing pricing: Quote-based if you use TouchBistro Payments; you can also choose from third-party payment processors.

  • Support: 24/7 phone and chat.

A great option for food trucks, full-service and quick-service restaurants, cafes and more, TouchBistro POS starts at $69 per month, though hardware and add-on fees could apply. While HungerRush’s delivery capabilities are more robust, TouchBistro clients with an existing delivery fleet can still add delivery capabilities to their plan. Clients without a delivery fleet can also integrate their system with apps that connect them with third-party delivery platforms. The company offers loyalty programs, online ordering, self-ordering kiosks and payment processing, among other features.

Square for Restaurants

  • Software pricing: Free and up.

  • Hardware pricing: $149 for an iPad stand and card reader; $799 for a Square Register.

  • Payment processing pricing: 2.6% plus 10 cents per in-person transaction; 2.9% plus 30 cents per online payment.

  • Support: Monday to Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific time for the free plan; 24/7 for paid plans.

Square for Restaurants’ free plan has an impressive set of features including table and menu management, item counts and auto 86ing, kitchen performance reports and a Square Online site for online orders. The company also has free inventory management software, and it allows clients to pay for hardware in installments instead of all upfront. Delivery service integrations are available as well. The product is a good fit for newer restaurants that need the basics, and they can always upgrade plans as the business grows.
