If you’re planning an island getaway, here are 10 Hilton hotels in the Caribbean where you can earn or redeem Hilton Honors points.

Best Hilton Caribbean resorts

As the first Palm Beach luxury resort to open back in 1959, the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino is often credited for kickstarting tourism on the island. Today, it has expanded to three buildings, plus two swimming pools set against a wide stretch of white sand.

The resort's new Power Palapas (beachside charging stations) make remote working easier, as each station is complete with power and USB outlets, laptop cooling pads and the option to flip a special marker from red to green so that a server will appear.

2. Hilton Barbados Resort

Hilton Barbados Resort and Hilton Grand Vacations at The Crane offer distinct experiences on the island of Barbados. The main resort features traditional guest rooms, several dining options and a sparkling pool on the grounds of a 17th-century UNESCO World Heritage Site, Charles Fort.

Nearby beaches on Needhams Point are easily accessible from the hotel. In addition to a spa, there is also a variety of free watersports.

3. Hilton Grand Vacations at The Crane, Barbados

Another Barbados property, the Hilton Grand Vacations at The Crane property, is located in St. Philip on the magnificent Crane Beach. This Caribbean hotel is better suited to travelers who want residential-style accommodations with a full kitchen, living area and multiple bedrooms. Some units even have their own plunge pool.

Guests here can use the facilities of neighboring The Crane Resort, including its 1 1/2-acre pool complex, shopping village, dining, tennis and spa facilities.

4. Caribe Hilton, Puerto Rico

When it opened in 1949, this was Hilton’s first property outside the continental U.S. It’s also credited with being the birthplace of the piña colada.

Today, Caribe Hilton guests find a beautiful beach and pool, al fresco daybeds and shaded lounge chairs, and a Morton’s The Steakhouse (among other dining options) to keep them entertained.

5. Hilton La Romana, Dominican Republic

The adults-only Hilton La Romana Resort & Spa and family-friendly Hilton La Romana Resort & Waterpark offer escapes tailored to every type of traveler. Both properties are all-inclusive, meaning drinks, snacks and meals are packaged into the rate. The family resort has its own waterpark, a kids club, daily activities like Spanish and dance lessons, and the option to rent a private oceanfront pool for four.

At the adults-only property, activities like pool games, beach volleyball and windsurfing supplement relaxation by the beach or pool.

6. Hilton Rose Hall, Jamaica

Another of Hilton’s all-inclusive properties, Hilton Rose Hall vacation packages offer onsite activities along with food, drinks and fun. The resort covers 400 acres, with a private beach, poolside lounge chairs and cabanas.

The resort has its own waterpark, with three pools, waterfalls, a lazy river and 280-foot water slide. There are activities for kids and teenagers, plus nightly entertainment and a dedicated spa.

7. Hilton at Resorts World Bimini, Bahamas

Hilton at Resorts World Bimini is part of a resort stretching across 750 beachfront acres. It recently opened its 4 1/2-acre Resorts World Bimini Beach and lounge area, designed to be a party-style beach club.

The resort is 50 miles off the coast of Miami and hosts 10 food and beverage outlets, five pools and a spa among its many amenities.

8. Zemi Beach House, Anguilla

With six oceanfront acres and plenty of poolside places to relax, Zemi Beach House by LXR Hotels & Resorts wows with its location and service. Famous for its Rhum Room with more than 100 single-batch, single-estate rums on the menu, tipplers will have plenty of choices.

The resort also has a Thai-inspired spa, offering wellness-focused treatments, and the island’s only hammam. Visitors can also find relaxation on a yoga deck and in the onsite meditation gardens.

9. Embassy Suites by Hilton Dorado del Mar Beach Resort, Puerto Rico

Families will appreciate the amenity-rich Embassy Suites by Hilton brand, which includes a cooked-to-order breakfast, evening cocktail hour with free drinks and snacks, and multiroom suites with separate living areas.

Both a lagoon-style pool with ocean views and beachfront with chairs and towels await guests at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Dorado del Mar Beach Resort.

10. Harbor Club St. Lucia, Curio Collection by Hilton

Facing the active harbor, Harbor Club St. Lucia, Curio Collection by Hilton is in St. Lucia's Rodney Harbor and offers its guests a free ferry ride to the beach. Guests can enjoy the four pools onsite or venture into the neighboring Rodney Bay Village for local nightlife.

In addition to the points you'd earn from using a Hilton credit card, as a Hilton Honors member, you would accumulate 10 points for every $1 spent at most Hilton properties. Home2 Suites and Tru hotels earn 5 points per $1.

If you’re an elite member, you earn additional bonuses on top of the 10 points per $1:

  • Silver: 20% bonus points.

  • Gold: 80% bonus points.

  • Diamond: 100% bonus points.

So how can you use all this to maximize your earnings? Let's say you have the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card and use it to pay for your Hilton stay, you'd earn 30 points per each $1 spent ( 12 points per $1 for using the card + 18 points per $1 for being a Gold elite member, which you become by being a card holder). So, for a $400 hotel stay, you'd earn 12,000 Hilton points. Since NerdWallet values Hilton points at 0.5 cent each, those 12,000 Hilton points are worth $60.
