On May 1, 2019, Capital One added JetBlue to its list of airline reward transfer partners.

To celebrate, Capital One is adding a 50% bonus to point transfers made through May 31, 2019. This boosts the redeemable ratio from 2 Venture Miles for 1 TrueBlue point to 2 Venture Miles for 1.5 TrueBlue points.

In other words, for the rest of this month, transferring 1,000 Venture Miles to JetBlue will give travelers 750 TrueBlue points, but in June, that will drop back to 1,000 Venture Miles for 500 TrueBlue points. NerdWallet values JetBlue points at 1.1 cents each.

Travelers who hold a Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or a Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card could benefit, as could owners of the Capital One business credit cards that accrue reward miles (the Capital One Spark Miles for Business and Capital One® Spark® Miles Select for Business cards).

The easiest way to redeem Venture Miles is by purchasing travel on a Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or a Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card, then "erasing" the purchase using your points, which avoids blackout dates and other restrictions.

The bottom line

The option to transfer miles may be useful to travelers who need just a few more miles to redeem a flight on JetBlue. Since JetBlue TrueBlue points never expire, there’s little incentive to transfer miles to keep the loyalty account active for infrequent JetBlue travelers.

The addition of JetBlue marks the first U.S. airline to partner with Capital One for reward mile transfers. But it’s not a unique partnership. For example, Chase cardholders can use the Chase Ultimate Rewards® portal to transfer their reward points to JetBlue at a 1:1 transfer ratio.
