While other hotel programs decrease the value of their reward points well below a cent per point, World of Hyatt has mostly maintained the high value of its points.

Based on our analysis, the World of Hyatt points value is about 2.3 cents each.

This is a baseline value, drawn from real-world data, not a maximized value. In other words, you should aim for award redemptions that offer 2.3 cents or more in value from your Hyatt points.

What does this value mean?

We determined that Hyatt points are worth 2.3 cents each by comparing several real-world redemptions when paying with cash or points. We looked hotels based in the U.S. and international hotels for this analysis.

Consider this the baseline value for making your own reward redemptions. If you’re getting more than 2.3 cents per point in value, you’re doing well. If you’re getting less, consider looking for another redemption option (or just paying cash instead of using points).

This valuation can also give you a sense of the relative dollar value of a World of Hyatt promotion or credit card offer. But keep in mind that this is only an estimate, and not a hard-and-fast cash value.

Hyatt points value over time

Hyatt points saw a pretty significant jump in value between our 2021 and 2022 analyses, yet dropped down in 2023. It still has by far the most valuable points of any hotel program.

How do Hyatt points compare to other hotel programs?

World of Hyatt points are worth far more than other hotel reward points. This means that you should pay particular attention to promotions that earn Hyatt points or credit card transfer programs (like Chase Ultimate Rewards®) that can be transferred to Hyatt.

How easy is it to earn Hyatt points?

This is where things get a little more complicated. Yes, Hyatt points are worth a lot, but they are considerably harder to earn when spending at Hyatt properties compared to other hotel programs. Entry-level World of Hyatt members earn 5 points per dollar spent on rooms and other eligible expenses — far less than other hotel programs.

How to convert Hyatt points to dollars

Use this calculator to help convert any number of World of Hyatt points to dollars, based on our estimate. This is useful for deciding whether to use cash or points to pay for a room, or when considering whether a promotion that earns Hyatt points is worth it.

How can I get more value from my Hyatt points?

There are many ways to eke more value from your Hyatt (or any reward) points, such as targeting sweet spots and good old fashioned comparison shopping.

Also, based on our analysis this year, we noticed that World of Hyatt points were worth slightly more when booking hotels in the U.S. compared to international properties. This doesn’t mean you should always use them domestically, but it does mean you should be extra careful when booking internationally to make sure you’re getting a good deal.

How did we determine the Hyatt points value?

We collected hundreds of data points comparing the cash value to award (point) value for the same destinations and dates. That is, we compared the cost of a given room in either cash or points across many bookings.

This method differs from many others in that it looks at real-world redemptions rather than hypothetical, maximized redemptions. The advantage of this approach is that it provides an actual, real-world indication of how much these points are worth on average. That said, it doesn’t take into account the high-value redemptions that points enthusiasts seek.
