How much does it cost to book a Radisson room on points?

How much point value will you sacrifice when booking a Radisson hotel room using points? The Radisson loyalty program keeps things simple by offering an award chart. Within that, hotels are broken down into five categories (1-5), and rooms are further broken down into three tiers (standard room, family room and premium room) for international Radisson hotels. For the Radisson Americas program, there is no family room option, but rather a RewardSaver Room rate.

Rooms start at 15,000 points for a standard room at the lowest tier hotels (think a lower-end brand in a low-cost market, like the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson in Bloomington–Normal West, Illinois), while they run as high as 112,500 points for a premium room in a Category 5 hotel (think something like the Radisson Blu Resort & Residence in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic).

Based on our valuations of Radisson points, that means that the points needed to book a standard room at a Category 1 hotel are worth roughly $120, a Category 3 hotel would be worth roughly $360, and a Category 5 hotel would be worth roughly $600.

If cash rates to book that same room are lower than those values, then it might behoove you to save your points and pay in cash. But if cash rates are higher (and they very well could be if you’re traveling during peak seasons such as summer and holidays), then — assuming you have Radisson points to your name — book on points as you’re getting a great deal.
