Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money.

The Chase Ink family of business credit cards makes it easy to rack up Chase Ultimate RewardsⓇ points through a combination of high sign-up bonuses and generous spending bonus categories. For example, the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card currently features this sign-up offer: Earn 100,000 bonus points after you spend $8,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That's $1,000 cash back or $1,250 toward travel when redeemed through Chase Travel℠. And the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card will earn you 5% cash back on the first $25,000 you spend on cable, internet, phone bills and at office supply stores.

But once you’ve built up a stack of Chase Ultimate RewardsⓇ, what are your options for using them? We created a step-by-step guide to show you all the different ways you can redeem your points.

Straight cash

Perhaps the easiest way to redeem your rewards is to take them as cash. Converting your points into cash is a fairly easy process:

  • First, log into your Chase account.

  • From the homepage, click on the link that takes you to your Rewards homepage (this is the page you’ll need to be on for pretty much all of your redemption options).

  • Click on the link labeled “Cash Back.”

  • Decide how many points you want to redeem and in which account you want the money deposited.

Note: It will take up to three business days for the cash to hit your account.

For cash redemptions, 1 Chase Ultimate Rewards® point is considered to be worth 1 cent. So if you were to take 10,000 points as cash, you would receive $100.

Taking cash for your points is a good option if you don’t travel or if you just appreciate the simplicity of immediately having money in your account, but it rarely offers you the best value for your points.

Travel

This is one of the more popular options for using points, and it's not a difficult process:

  • Again, navigate your way to your Rewards home page.

  • Click on the link at the top of the page labeled “Travel.”

  • You’ll then be taken to a page where you’ll see all of your options for redeeming your points, including flights, hotels, cruises and car rentals.

  • Enter your destination and travel dates, click the search button, and you’ll be shown all of your options.

There are two important things to note when redeeming your points for travel:

  1. Chase allows you to combine points and cash when making your redemption. So if you're short on points for your dream vacation, you can make up the difference with cash.

  2. Chase cards will give you a redemption bonus if you use your points through their travel portal. For example, the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card gives you a 25% bonus for every point you redeem through the portal, and the Chase Sapphire Reserve® gives you a 50% bonus.

So if you use 10,000 points on the Preferred’s portal, then those points will have an actual value of 12,500 points.

Gift cards

You can redeem your points for gift cards from hundreds of different retailers, including Target, Hulu, Sephora, Albertsons and many more. Just click on the “Gift Card” link at the top of the Rewards home page, and you’ll be taken to a list of every gift card that Chase offers. From there, it's easy to select the card you want and the amount you'd like on it.

Generally, gift cards have a value of 1 cent for every 1 point you spend, with a minimum and maximum value that you can purchase. However, the site frequently features sales where cards can be purchased at a discount, which can offer decent value for your points.

Amazon shopping

You can also use your Chase Ultimate Rewards® points to shop on Amazon:

  • Click on the Amazon link at the top of your Rewards home page.

  • You’ll then be required to link your Chase Ink card to your Amazon account.

  • When you make a purchase, you’ll have to choose to pay with your Chase Ink card. Then you’ll be given the opportunity to apply your points to your purchase.

The value of your Chase Ultimate Rewards® points on Amazon are subject to change, but according to NerdWallet’s research, 1 point is worth approximately 0.8 cent on Amazon. This is a low redemption and generally not recommended. You would get better value for your points if you took them as cash and then paid for your Amazon purchases that way.

The bottom line

Head over to the Chase Rewards homepage, which is your starting point for redeeming points no matter how you want to spend them. Remember that as long as you keep your card open, your points don’t expire. So there is no need to make a redemption, especially a sub-optimal one, if you don’t have to.
