It's fairly common for hotel chains to match a cheaper price you find elsewhere online, but the Red Roof takes this guarantee a step further: They'll also give you enough points for another free night.
Red Roof's upgraded price match guarantee program is meant to try to ensure direct bookings through their own website or call center. If you do happen to find a lower rate for a room at Red Roof, here’s what you should do to claim your free night.
1. Book a room directly
This is one of the most important conditions required to take advantage of Red Roof’s price match guarantee: You must have already booked a room directly through the Red Roof website or call center, and the cheaper rate must be found within 24 hours of your original booking.
2. Find a lower rate
Red Roof guarantees that you’ll find the best rates for their rooms online. If you can find a lower rate on a different website (usually an online travel agency like Hotels.com or Expedia), the Red Roof RediPromise will kick in.
To qualify as a lower rate, all of the details of the reservation must be the same, including:
Number of guests.
Terms and conditions governing the rates.
There are a lot of exceptions to the price match guarantee. Discounts offered to members of certain loyalty programs like AAA or Expedia Member Pricing do not apply.
You won’t be able to get a price match on rates from websites that do not show the hotel brand until the booking is complete. Any hotel rates that are part of a vacation package, including travel, car rental or entertainment, also aren't eligible.

3. Submit an online claim form
If you do find a better price that meets all of the criteria, you must fill out an online claim form. Act quick because the form must be submitted within 24 hours of booking and at least one business day before your scheduled arrival date.
4. Get a free night
If the lower rate qualifies, Red Roof will match it and give you enough points for a free night. The number of points issued will vary by hotel. You’ll get either 7,000 RediPoints for Red Roof Inn or Red Roof Plus hotels, or 14,000 RediPoints for The Red Collection hotels.
The bottom line
Price match policies are a staple of hotel loyalty programs. Every major hotel chain, including Hilton and Hyatt, has one. Even OTAs like Hotels.com and Booking.com have price match policies. But Red Roof’s is one of the most generous.
For comparison, Marriott’s price match guarantee offers a 25% discount or 5,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. You’ll need at least 7,500 points to book a free night at a Category 1 hotel, so these points aren’t enough for a free night.
The conditions for a qualifying lower rate can be so stringent that you wouldn’t want to count on this method for saving money on booking. But if you do happen to find a better rate, it's worth a shot — and maybe even a free night.
