Guide to World of Hyatt Brands

Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money.

The World of Hyatt hotel loyalty program is a member favorite for its many promotions and generous elite status levels. While it claims title to more than 1,150 hotels in 70 countries (and a grand total of 117,000 rooms worldwide), Hyatt is still smaller than bigger brands like Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors. To compete, Hyatt pours on the perks to earn guests’ loyalty.

And Hyatt is doing something right. Its World of Hyatt loyalty program is considered NerdWallet's top hotel rewards programs this year.

But within Hyatt comes many different types of Hyatts. That's because Hyatt has more than two dozen brands in its portfolio that range from budget-friendly to over-the-top luxurious. Increasingly more Hyatt brands are all-inclusive, and the company has a strong focus on well-being, a theme that runs through many of its brands.

Every World of Hyatt brand offers something distinctive to separate it from the rest. Here are Hyatt's hotel brands (sorted in alphabetical order), in a list that includes all of Hyatt’s regular hotel brands and all-inclusive resorts. Use it to help decide which property aligns with your travel style.

All of these properties allow members to earn and redeem valuable points, as well as take advantage of bonuses that come with affiliated credit cards like the World of Hyatt Credit Card or the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card.

Hyatt hotels

1. Alila

Pairing local culture with luxury indulgences, Alila is a recent addition to the World of Hyatt lineup. Most Alilas are in Asia — half of them in Indonesia. The only Alila in the U.S. at the moment is Ventana Big Sur, an Alila Resort, an all-inclusive offering with incredible California nature views. For those into glamping, this property offers the chance for guests to earn World of Hyatt points sleeping in the wilderness (although they can redeem points only for the standard accommodations, not glamping).

2. Andaz

This is a hip lifestyle brand that offers elevated service and amenities in city and resort destinations. Hyatt has been steadily growing this brand, which appeals to sophisticated travelers looking to stay in hotels that reflect their creativity and energy. In fact, Andaz means “personal style” in Hindi.

Andaz hotels vary in size and layout. For example, both Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere and Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor, among the brand’s newest big-city hotels, have ample amenities for business travelers and group functions. In Costa Rica and Mayakoba, Mexico, Andaz properties cater to high-end leisure travelers looking to relax in paradise.

Andaz Delhi is located in a corporate park near the airport, offering great runway views for airplane geeks while meeting the needs of leisure and business travelers and even long-stay guests with its dedicated section of serviced apartments.

Andaz properties are known for their evening social hours, where guests can gather over complimentary refreshments and drinks, as well as a new partnership with The Society of Scent. Each hotel features a signature aroma, found throughout the property, that was handcrafted to capture the essence of the destination.

The brand is poised for massive growth this year. Planned and recent openings include Andaz Doha in Qatar, Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach in Thailand, Andaz Mexico City Condesa in Mexico, Andaz Macau and Andaz Nanjing Hexi in Greater China.

3. Caption by Hyatt

Caption is one of Hyatt’s newer brands that aims provide the best of both worlds: upscale vibes but relatively affordable prices. The vibe of Caption hotels is fun, communal and even hostel-esque, with a fun, modern decor. Its common spaces are designed as a place to hang out with your laptop and drink coffee. The vibe seems similar to Marriott Moxy.

The first Caption by Hyatt property to open was the Caption by Hyatt Beale Street Memphis in 2022. The vibe of Caption hotels is fun, communal and even hostel-esque, with a fun, modern decor. Its common spaces are designed as a place to hang out with your laptop and drink coffee. The vibe seems similar to Marriott Moxy.

And Caption is a hit in Tennessee, as another property, Caption by Hyatt Chattanooga, is set to open in 2024. That's not the only property on the docket. Two properties in Northern California are set to open in 2026: Caption by Hyatt Roseville and and Caption by Hyatt Sacramento.

International expansion plans include opening in Japan and China, opening in Vietnam in 2025, and an eventual opening in Sydney, Australia (though no official date has been announced yet).

4. Destination by Hyatt

Known as a collection of unique, independent hotels and resorts, Destination Hotels include resorts, city hotels, residence properties and private home rentals. Golf courses and mountain retreats are also part of the portfolio, which like other boutique options within World of Hyatt aim to tell the story of a destination.

5. Grand Hyatt

Just as their name suggests, these are grand hotels with an emphasis on group functions and corporate business, but they also cater to leisure travelers. Grand Hyatt properties have ample meeting space, glossy lobbies and long rosters of amenities ranging from dining to spa outlets. One of the newest additions to the portfolio is the Grand Hyatt at SFO, which is the only hotel connected to San Francisco International Airport, offering close-up views of the ramp activity and parked airplanes.

Everything at these hotels is opulent, from the restaurant options to the architecture. World of Hyatt Globalist members and those paying for premium rooms have access to Grand Clubs in the hotels that have them, serving breakfast and evening snacks. Grand Hyatt hotels without these clubs offer Globalist members breakfast in the restaurant. Other favorites in the Grand Hyatt portfolio include Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa in Hawaii and Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.

6. Hyatt

Hotels branded simply as Hyatt tend to have less meeting space than a Hyatt Regency. Hyatt Paris Madeleine — a guest favorite in the French capital — is one example. Hyatts are popular with both business and leisure travelers.

7. Hyatt Centric

Known for their regionally inspired design and a focus on being the center of the neighborhood, Hyatt Centric hotels straddle the line between business and leisure. Some are located in financial districts, like Hyatt Centric Las Condes Santiago in Chile, while others are closer to leisure attractions like Peru's Hyatt Centric San Isidro Lima.

Hyatt Centric properties offer special amenities like Drybar-branded hair dryers and eco-friendly toiletry products, both of which were the result of focus group testing on what younger travelers find important.

8. Hyatt House

This brand is where Hyatt was born. Its first hotel dates back to 1957 with the purchase of the Hyatt House at Los Angeles International Airport. Hyatt founder Jay Pritzker believed there was a need for an airport hotel and bought the property, which would be dubbed the world’s first “fly-in” hotel, from businessman Hyatt von Dehn.

These days, Hyatt House properties are all over the world — and not only near airports. Many Hyatt House public amenities mirror those found at Hyatt Place hotels (lounges where guests can work and charge electronic devices, a bar and complimentary breakfast). And the accommodations are more spacious because they are designed for extended stays.

They feature larger living areas and kitchenettes, and include studios and one- and two-bedroom suites. Hyatt House Shenzhen Airport in China was the first of the brand to open in the Asia-Pacific region.

Hyatt is expected to add to its line-up of Hyatt House properties globally over the coming years including in key emerging leisure hotspots and business travel destinations in the U.S. and Canada, such as Hyatt House Traverse City (Michigan), Hyatt House Bozeman (Montana) and Hyatt House Roseville (California).

9. Hyatt Place

With hotels in the United States and all over the world, Hyatt Place offers free breakfast and wireless internet for World of Hyatt members. However, the free breakfast offering for all guests is largely a perk due to COVID. There are rumblings that the free breakfast will revert to only being offered to Hyatt members who book directly.

Additionally, these practical hotels tend to scale back on full-service amenities like restaurants. On the positive side, there are many business-traveler-friendly amenities like business centers and in-room refrigerators, and many have bars, swimming pools and fitness centers. These properties always offer a 24/7 option for grabbing food or drink.

Hyatt is expected to add to its line-up of Hyatt Place properties with an emphasis on emerging leisure and business hotspots. Announced openings include Hyatt Place Cape Canaveral (Florida), Hyatt Place Toronto – Downtown/Jarvis Street (Ontario), and Hyatt Place Mississauga - Airport Corporate Centre (Ontario).

In a lot of ways, Hyatt Place and Hyatt House are pretty similar (and it's not uncommon to find a city with both!). Use this guide to Hyatt House vs. Hyatt Place to better understand the (very minor) differences.

10. Hyatt Regency

This is one of the hotel company’s best-known brands, and these full-service hotels include a mix of business and leisure destination properties. Almost all have a Regency Club lounge, offering top elite status guests, and those paying a premium rate, access to a private lounge space for daily food and beverage presentations.

These hotels focus strongly on the corporate traveler but have a wide range of amenities to appeal to leisure guests too. Hyatt Regency properties compete with brands like Marriott, Sheraton and Hilton. Some popular locations include the Hyatt Regency Orlando and the Hyatt Regency Maui.

11. Hyatt Residence Club

Hyatt Residence Club properties are designed like luxury condominiums, villas and homes that come with regular (although not always daily) housekeeping services and access to resort amenities like pool or beach areas. Here, World of Hyatt members are eligible to earn points and elite members earn tier bonuses.

The Hyatt Residence Club Key West has a zero-entry pool, hot tub, beach access and barbeque. It is also conveniently located near shopping, dining and nightlife.

12. JdV by Hyatt

JdV, which stands for Joie de Vivre, is Hyatt’s collection of boutique hotels. These properties aim to blend into the neighborhood with their design or history and serve up local experiences and flavors. Joie de Vivre is a relatively new addition to World of Hyatt. Members can earn and redeem their points at pet-friendly Joie de Vivre properties like Hotel Kabuki in San Francisco and Hotel 50 Bowery in New York.

13. Miraval

With only a handful of properties, Miraval shares the same mission as World of Hyatt: well-being and mindfulness. These resorts are located in Tucson, Arizona; Austin, Texas; and the New England Berkshires, the brand’s newest opening. They focus on fitness and nutrition as part of overall well-being.

Guests can tailor their experience, putting a focus on nutrition and exercise or on spa pampering and relaxation. And they will earn World of Hyatt points for doing it. Members can also redeem their points for a free night, which comes with a $175 nightly resort credit, all meals and nonalcoholic drinks and complimentary wellness activities.

14. Park Hyatt

Upscale hotels with a focus on bespoke service, many Park Hyatts specialize in notable dining and spa experiences. Nearly half are located in the Asia-Pacific region, a premier destination for lavish service and hospitality. Among the most well-known properties in the brand are the iconic Park Hyatt Sydney facing the Opera House and the family-friendly Park Hyatt Beaver Creek in Colorado.

And then there’s the famous Park Hyatt Tokyo, whose New York Bar was featured prominently in the movie “Lost in Translation” and has become a tourist attraction in its own right.

What's coming for Hyatt? Park Hyatt is set to make its entrance in Morocco this year with the Park Hyatt Marrakech. And there's tons of growth set for Asia. In 2024, the company has plans to open properties including Park Hyatt Taipei (Taiwan), Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Park Hyatt Phu Quoc (Vietnam).

15. Thompson Hotels

These lifestyle-driven hotels are located in both city and resort destinations. Among the newest to join the Thompson Hotels lineup are Thompson Austin in Texas and Thompson Buckhead in Atlanta. There are 18 hotels with another property set to open soon in Madrid.

Like other World of Hyatt brands, these hotels honor their location through art, design and architecture. As luxury hotels, they offer excellent dining plus nightlife opportunities that set the brand apart from other luxury hotels. For example, the rooftop bar at The Cape, a Thompson Hotel in Cabo San Lucas in Mexico offers incredible views of El Arco in the Pacific Ocean and has a separate beer garden pergola.

16. The Unbound Collection by Hyatt

These are independent, boutique-style hotels that are representative of their local environs. Unbound Collection properties are ideal for travelers who don’t want corporate-style accommodations and appreciate variety in what Hyatt calls “story-worthy” hotels.

Similar to Tribute Portfolio and Kimpton, these individually designed hotels offer upscale accommodations with the reassurance of the World of Hyatt program. The Confidante Miami Beach is one of the popular hotels in the portfolio.

17. UrCove hotels

UrCove properties are located only in China and they are fully designed for the Chinese market, particularly Chinese business travelers.

The UrCove Beijing International Exhibition Center is conveniently located near many shopping malls, universities, hospitals and parks. Also located near the metro, it provides easy access to many other parts of the city. The hotel has room service, a restaurant on-site, a gym, and laundry and meeting facilities to truly cater to a business traveler.

All-inclusive Hyatt resorts

Hyatt offers one of the largest portfolios of luxury all-inclusive resorts in the world including a healthy pipeline of expected openings in the pipeline. Hyatt was the first multibrand hotel company to enter the all-inclusive market, which allows travelers to earn and redeem points from a global brand for a stay.

Among notable openings include growth across Bulgaria’s popular Black Sea destinations and the recent launch of Secrets Impression Resorts & Spas.

Although the amenities offered can vary by property, typically you’ll find the same all-inclusive perks across all the brands, which can include: gourmet dining at hotel bars and restaurants, top-shelf drinks, beach and pool bars, gyms, maid service, Nespresso coffee machines, daytime and nighttime entertainment, and specific activities geared toward adults and children (where children are allowed).

18. Alua Hotels & Resorts

Alua hotels are located in Europe’s beachside locations and offer minimalist chic accommodations and diverse international food options. These properties cater to all types of travelers and offer plenty of activities to choose from. There are 42 properties: two are in Greece and the rest are in Spain.

Not all Alua properties participate in the World of Hyatt loyalty program so check before you book.

19. Breathless Resorts & Spas

Breathless Resort & Spa properties are adults only, so if you’re looking for an all-inclusive spot for a family trip, this might not be the option for you. Currently, there are five Breathless Resort & Spa locations, with three in Mexico and two in Jamaica.

In addition to all the all-inclusive amenities you’d expect, these properties offer craft cocktails, spa treatments, pool parties, music and more.

20. Dreams Resorts & Spas

Dreams properties offer luxury all-inclusive experiences for couples and couples with children in Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The Dreams Acapulco Resort & Spa offers spacious rooms and suites, many of which have balconies with views of Acapulco Bay.

21. Hyatt Zilara

Hyatt Zilara has three properties: one in Mexico, one in the Dominican Republic and the other in Jamaica. These all-inclusive resorts cater to an adults-only crowd. Drinks, meals and entertainment are packaged into the rate (including World of Hyatt redemptions).

Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic is one of the newer additions.

22. Hyatt Ziva

Hyatt Ziva properties are located in Mexico and the Caribbean. Unlike Hyatt Zilara, Ziva is a family-friendly brand with activities available for all age groups.

Like the Hyatt Zilara in Cap Cana, the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana has also recently opened in the Dominican Republic.

23. Secrets Resorts & Spas

Secrets Resorts & Spas are also adults-only properties focusing on providing luxurious experiences for hotel guests in the Caribbean. There are properties in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Saint Martin. Newer properties include Secrets Impression Moxché Playa del Carmen and Secrets Impression Isla Mujeres.

24. Sunscape Resorts & Spas

Sunscape is another family-friendly all-inclusive offering by Hyatt, with resorts in Mexico, Dominican Republic and Curacao. There are plenty of activities for kids of all ages. The properties also feature spas, gourmet food and live music.

25. Vivid Hotels & Resorts (coming soon)

There are no hotels open yet, but according to Hyatt, Vivid properties will be designed for “adult travelers looking for casual comforts filled with simple pleasures.” Vivid hotels will offer meditation sessions, low-key social events, water sports and theme parties. The resorts will be beachfront and will include unique dining options like curated dinners, special pop-ups, unlimited top-shelf alcohol and 24-hour dining.

26. Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts

If staying at an all-inclusive hotel deters you because of the lack of organic food options, the menus at Zoëtry resorts include authentic, gourmet food with organic ingredients. According to its website, Zoëtry resorts offer luxurious accommodations with high levels of personal service. That includes maid service three times a day, 20-minute complimentary wellness experiences and daily afternoon tea with live plant infusions.

Zoëtry properties are located in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Curacao.

Hyatt brands recapped

Hyatt offers 26 different brands and also provides members with opportunities to earn and redeem points at SLH properties. Although Hyatt is a smaller hotel brand than some of its competitors, it makes up for it with a solid loyalty program and a lot of options.
