Now that you've received your American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card, what should you do first? This business cash back credit card offers a lot of value to business owners, so you don't want to miss out on any of its benefits. Here's how to maximize its features to earn cash back, save money and boost the bottom line of your business.
Maximize your 2% cash back
Business owners can earn 2% cash back on up to $50,000 in purchases each calendar year. There are no bonus categories to remember and you don't need to opt in to earn this cash back. Every swipe of this cash back credit card earns valuable rewards, no matter who you are paying. Terms apply.
If you max out the 2% cash back benefit, that is an extra $1,000 in rewards for your business. After you've maxed out the 2% cash back bonus category, all of your other purchases earn 1% cash back until the clock resets on Jan. 1 of the following year. Terms apply.
Use the 0% APR offer on purchases and balance transfers
Being a business owner means you sometimes have to spend money to make money. Even when you don't have the money right away.
The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card offers a 0% intro APR on Purchases for 12 months, and then the ongoing APR of 13.24% - 19.24% Variable APR. This means that you can make purchases and carry a balance during the first 12 months after opening your account without paying any interest. Terms apply.
Balance transfers from other credit cards, lines of credit and loans can also enjoy this promotional 12-month 0% APR when made during the first 60 days. You'll pay a 3% fee on the amount transferred with a $5 minimum. Terms apply.
When the 12-month promotional period is over, any unpaid balances will revert back to the standard APR based on your creditworthiness and other factors. Terms apply.
Download the American Express mobile app
American Express offers a robust website that makes it easy to manage your account. On the American Express website, you can review transactions, download statements, make payments and more.
However, you're not always at your computer when you need to do something with your account. The American Express mobile app is user-friendly and offers all of the major functionality of the desktop website, including reviewing and signing up for AmEx Offers. It is available for both Apple and Android operating systems.
Sign up for AmEx Offers
AmEx Offers are a great way to earn additional cash back, rewards and other benefits when shopping with participating merchants. AmEx Offers are available to every cardholder, including authorized users and employee cards. American Express doesn't share the exact formula on how AmEx Offer become available to cardholders. However, it is assumed that these offers are presented based on the type of credit card you have, your user profile and your spending patterns.
This means that the offers on your account may be different than those of a friend who has the same card. Also, if you have multiple American Express credit cards, the offers available on each card may be different. It is important to check each credit card to see which offers are available.
Receiving the benefits of AmEx Offers is not automatic. You must manually opt in to these promotional offers. Once you accept an offer, it is no longer available on any other American Express credit card you have. When accepting an offer, use the credit card that offers the best rewards for that spending category.
Set up automatic payment
Being a business owner means wearing many hats. Sometimes you are so focused on running the business that remembering to pay the bills slips your mind.
Setting up an automatic payment of your credit card bill can eliminate one more thing on your to-do list. This avoids late fees and negative marks on your credit report. You'll have the option of when to pay the bill and how much to pay.
We recommend that you pay your bill in full each month to avoid paying interest on your balance. However, some business owners prefer flexibility based on their business cash flow. In this case, at least create the automatic payment to pay the minimum balance due.
Stop paying for extended warranties
One of the many benefits of the American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card is that eligible purchases have extended warranty coverage. Manufacturer warranties of up to five years receive up to an additional year on covered items. With this additional warranty coverage, you can save your money and stop paying for extended warranties offered by the stores where you shop.
Pocket extra cash with no annual fee
Many credit cards offer great perks in exchange for paying an annual fee ranging from $95 to $550 per year. However, there is no charge for American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card. Terms apply. You can enjoy all of the benefits of this cash back credit card while keeping your money invested in your business. What else could you buy for your business by eliminating credit card annual fees?
Add employee cards at no charge
For businesses that have employees, you may add employee credit cards for no extra fee. Credit limits for each employee card can be set at the individual level, so you can adjust according to your business needs. Additionally, American Express reports and tracks purchases at the employee level so you can see their spending and update your accounting accordingly.
Employee purchases also earn rewards and receive benefits. This means that all of their purchases count toward maximizing the 2% cash back on the first $50,000 you spend each calendar year. Terms apply.
The bottom line
When you get the American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card, follow these steps to use all of its features. You'll earn better rewards, save money and stay in control of your account. Best of all, there is no annual fee for you or your employees when using this cash back business credit card. Terms apply.
