Overall

3.5

At PNC Bank, the sixth-largest bank in the country by assets, customers can earn a $50 sign-up bonus with a checking, savings and money market combo called Virtual Wallet. The trio of products — named Spend, Reserve and Growth, respectively — come with a nice set of online management tools. But the interest rate on savings is low, and it takes effort to avoid monthly fees on the checking account.

Virtual Wallet Spend, PNC’s checking account, has free mobile banking and online bill pay. If you use a non-PNC ATM, the bank may also reimburse some ATM usage fees, depending on where you live, though the ATM machine’s owner could still charge a separate fee.

Virtual Wallet Spend has a $7 monthly fee that can be avoided in a few ways, including monthly direct deposits of $500 and average combined balances of $500.

Find another bank
The cashed an unendorsed check and won't return the money. I've been going back and forth with PNC for over 2 months. They have confirmed that a check was stolen, confirmed that they released funds even though the check was not endorsed, and when I call I'm on hold for 30 minutes before being told that it could be 4 months before getting our money back. It took them one month just to track down what bank they deposited the funds to. And it could be another 3 months before we see our money that they agree they shouldn't have given away. They say they'll call back with updates and they don't. Find another bank!

Inconsistent, horrible experience!
Three different quotes for loan amounts and rates over three different days! > My husband and I called PNC on Monday and we were quoted by Rep #1 a loan amount of $77k at 5% and change. > We called again on Tuesday to continue our application and we were told by Rep #2 that the application hadn't in fact been saved. When she started a new one, we were quoted a loan amount of $60k at 7% and change. Confused by how the quotes could change so dramatically in just a day, we decided to do more research and call back on Wednesday. > We called today and when Rep #3 looked up our application, none of the quotes previously provided by Rep #2 had been saved. So yet again, we restarted the application. And this time, we were quoted a loan amount of $27k! We gave all three reps the same information--purchase price, appraisal value, etc. and got three completely different quotes! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! We are taking our business and credit worthiness (790+ FICO scores) elsewhere!
