Overall

4.5

Many credit unions offer better interest rates than banks do, but they also may have narrow membership requirements and less polished technology. But Alliant Credit Union combines the best of both worlds with broad membership criteria, great rates and a good tech experience.

Terrible Customer Service
I can't believe that with such low reviews Nerd Wallet promotes this company as their number one pick for a Visa Card. Makes me wonder if I should even bother with Nerd Wallet at all. If you want to deal with a customer service bureaucracy that makes the worst government agency look like a well oiled machine, and you want to be transferred ten times when you call in, and be treated rudely every time you speak with Customer Service, then do business with this credit union. I just got approved for a loan/credit card (they make you fill out a loan application to get the credit card) and had my first experience with Customer Service. The experience was so bad, that I am going to pass on the card and doing business with this joke of a company.

Worst customer service experience ever from a financial institution
Do not open an account with them or apply for a credit card. Worst customer service experience ever. Holding funds at their desire, BS answers to any question you have. You are tricked with supposedly good rates (or cash back) but the problems with their outdated account management and terrible customer service is outweighing your savings. I will never do business again with them. NEVER!
