If your New Year’s resolution is to give more to charity in 2014, you’ve probably already set to work on making this happen. Perhaps you’re carving out time in your schedule to volunteer, or making room in your budget to donate money on a monthly basis.

While giving time and money to a good cause is always admirable, you might be overlooking an even easier way to donate to charitable organizations: your credit card. In fact, there are several credit cards out there that make it really convenient to donate your rewards.

Interested in using a credit card to make your 2014 goal a reality? Check out the details on the three credit cards below.

Discover it® Balance Transfer

Aside from its charitable giving uses (more on that in a minute) the Discover it® Balance Transfer has a lot of great features. For example:

  • An annual fee of $0
  • No foreign transaction fee
  • Free FICO score on every monthly bill
  • 5% cash back in rotating bonus categories, 1% back on all other purchases
  • Discover will match ALL the cash back you've earned at the end of your first year, automatically. There's no signing up. And no limit to how much is matched.

While the Discover it® Balance Transfer doesn’t include a rotating bonus category for charitable giving, you’re able to donate your cash-back rewards through Discover’s Charitable Partnerships network. You can select from organizations like the American Cancer Society, the ASPCA, and the Make-a-Wish Foundation to “redeem” the cash-back you’ve earned using the It card. Plus, at the end of the year, Discover donates an additional $25,000 to the most popular charity in its network.

Any type of Discover card that offers cash back will allow you to donate your rewards to one of its partner charities, but because this card offers a high cash-back rate, it’s your best bet if you’re shopping for a new card to give with.
