The limited-time bonus offer on the United℠ Business Card described in this article has expired.

United Airlines is upgrading its basic credit card for business operators. The United℠ Business Card, the successor to the United Explorer Business Card, offers new bonus rewards for transit spending, as well as new incentives to fly United often and to carry a consumer United credit card.

The upgrade, which bumps up the annual fee from $95 to $99, also comes with a limited-time offer for new cardholders: Earn 100,000 bonus miles after $10,000 in purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

What’s new?

Sign-up bonus: The limited-time offer on the new version of the card allows new cardmembers to earn its full 100,000-point bonus with considerably less total spending than its predecessor.

United described the two-stage bonus on theUnited℠ Business Card this way: "Earn 50,000 bonus miles after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. Plus, 50,000 bonus miles after you spend $25,000 total on purchases in the first 6 months your account is open."

The 100,000 miles could be enough for four round-trip domestic flights in economy class.

Rewards: The new card earns 2 miles per dollar spent on local transit and commuting, including taxis, mass transit, tolls and rideshare services. Like the old version, it also earns 2 miles per dollar on purchases at United, restaurants, gas stations and office supply stores. The card gives 1 mile per dollar on all other purchases.

Travel credit: Earn a $100 United travel credit after seven United flight purchases of $100 or more in a year.

Dual-card bonus: You'll get 5,000 bonus miles every business-card anniversary when you have a personal United credit card as well as the business card.

In-flight discount: 25% back on United in-flight purchases, including Wi-Fi, food and beverages.

What’s the same?

The new version of the card continues key benefits from the "Explorer" business card:

  • Checked bags: Free first checked bag for you and a companion on your itinerary.

  • Priority boarding.

  • Lounge access: Two United Club one-time passes at account opening and on each cardmember anniversary.

Missing from the upgrade is a benefit that the personal version of the card has: a credit of up to $100 for applying to airport security programs Global Entry or TSA Precheck every four years.
