It should come as no surprise that the Nerds love big signup bonuses — we cannot lie. So when a great card like the Ink Plus Business Credit Card increases its signup bonus for a limited time, we’re going to shout it from the rooftops: The Chase Ink Plus Business Credit Card is offering a limited time only signup bonus: Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That’s $750 toward travel when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards.

You need to apply before March 1, 2015 and here’s what you need to know about the Ink Plus Business Credit Card before you apply.

Why would I want the Ink Plus® Business Credit Card?

If you’re looking for a travel rewards credit card for your business, the Ink Plus Business Credit Card is a fantastic option. Businesses that spend between $25K and $50K — primarily on office supplies, cable/telecom services, hotels and gas — will benefit most from its high rewards.

The Ink Plus® Business Credit Card is ideal for those businesses that require overseas travel, since it has no foreign transaction fees and comes chip-enabled.

The perks of the Ink Plus® Business Credit Card

The Ink Plus® Business Credit Card offers extra points on some of the most common business expenses. Here’s how many points you’ll get for your purchases:

  • 5X points per $1 spent on office supplies and cable/telecom services, up to $50,000 spent annually
  • 2X points per $1 spent on gas and hotels, also up to $50,000 spent annually
  • 1 point per $1 spent on everything else

What’s more, if you redeem your points through the Chase Ultimate Rewards site, you’ll enjoy a points value of 1.25 cents per point. That means the increased signup bonus could be worth $750 of travel.

The card has a $95 Annual Fee, which is significantly outweighed by your signup bonus the first year and ongoing rewards in future years if your spending is high enough. Assuming a rewards rate of 5X points per dollar spent and a redemption rate of 1 cent per mile (which is conservative because of Chase Ultimate Rewards), you only need to spend $1,900 a year to earn the rewards necessary to cover the annual fee.

The downsides of the Ink Plus® Business Credit Card

No credit card is perfect for everyone, even with a signup bonus worth calling your mom about. If your business doesn’t spend enough annually to cover the annual fee, spends significantly in excess of $50K per year, or doesn’t spend on the bonus rewards categories, you’d be better off with a different business credit card.

Bottom line: If your business spends between $25K and $50K primarily on the bonus rewards categories, the Ink Plus® Business Credit Card is worth considering. With its increased signup bonus, high ongoing rewards and high redemption value through Chase Ultimate Rewards, you’ll be able to take your business on the road — or rather, to the sky — affordably. Apply before March 1, 2015, to take advantage of this fabulous limited time offer.
