1992 was deemed “The Year of the Woman” because there were 7 female Senators elected.  Twenty years later, we have almost tripled that number.

The 113th Senate has made history: a full 20% of the United States Senate will be female.  Although this is nowhere near the 50% rate that would accurately represent women’s share of the population, it is clear that the 2012 election was historic.
