5 Things You Didn’t Know Your Fitbit Flex Could Do

Shopping, Shopping News

You’ve been using your new Fitbit Flex to track every step you take during the day, but did you know your Fitbit Flex, which The New York Times says has many advantages, can do so much more? Let’s take a peek to see how to maximize the value you’re getting out of your Fitbit Flex.

Track Sleep Patterns

Everyone knows that sleeping well at night will help you to be more productive and active.  The Fitbit Flex allows you to track your sleep efficiently by calculating how long you actually slept by tracing your movements in your sleep — the less you move, the better your sleep.

To track your sleep, you need to put your Fitbit Flex in sleep mode and tap on your Flex rapidly for up to two seconds. Your Fitbit Flex will then vibrate and two lights will turn on to show that you successfully turned on sleep mode.  When you wake up, you will need to tap your Flex rapidly again to turn off sleep mode. You will know you are out of sleep mode once your Flex vibrates and all five LED lights blink three times.

To see how much you slept, log into your account and click to view your sleep stats.

Set Goal

Goals are great to set when you are trying to achieve a healthy balance in your life and the Fitbit Flex allows you to set as many goals as you want through the Fitbit.com dashboard.

Perhaps you have a goal to take 15,000 steps in a day. All you need to do is log into your Fitbit.com dashboard, click the gear icon on the top-right, click settings, then devices and under daily progress and you can choose a goal.  You then must sync your Fitbit Flex so it knows your goal and can alert you that you’ve reached it by vibrating with all lights flashing.

The Fitbit Flex also allows you to check your goal status by tapping your tracker twice with your finger. The number of lights that light up will indicate how much of your goal you have completed.  Each light represents 20 percent of your goal.

Set an Alarm

Rather than waking up to a blaring alarm clock, you can set your Fitbit Flex to gently wake you up in the morning with a vibration. An alarm can be set through your account at Fitbit.com or by using your mobile device.  You can set up to 8 alarms and Fitbit will vibrate every 9 minutes to ensure you wake up on time.  You can also dismiss the alarm by tapping the window of your tracker.

Share With Your Friends

Want to show-off how much you’ve been walking, compare results or have a friendly competition with your friends?  You can do that with your Fitbit Flex.

All you need to do is log into your Fitbit account using your computer or mobile device, and then click on the Friends title and start searching for your Friends. You can even invite them via e-mail or through Facebook.

Once you are connected with your friends, you are able to view each other’s progress and you can also send messages of encouragement.

Change the color for your Mood

Your Fitbit tracker’s wristband is made to be interchangeable so you can switch up the color of your wristband, depending on your mood. You can also match your wristband to color coordinate with what you are wearing. Wristbands can be bought in a variety of colors, including red, black, slate, orange, teal and pink for about $15.00 each or you can purchase a band pack, which includes three bands for about $30.
