BJ’s Wholesale Club Black Friday 2014 Ad
The ad for BJ’s Black Friday deals for this year has finally appeared! Take a look at this shopping season’s array of offers in the ad scan below. Then, scroll down for our analysis of the bargains:
Black Friday weekend? Not at BJ’s Wholesale Club. In honor of the shopping holiday, BJ’s is offering nine full days of savings.
As announced in the retailer’s 14-page Black Friday ad, the sale will run from the Saturday before Black Friday through the Sunday following it: Nov. 22-30. The ad also highlights nearly 150 bargains, with most deals featuring televisions, smartphones, laptops and other electronics.
With 200 stores on the East Coast and in the Midwest, the warehouse club offers an alternative to Costco and Sam’s Club for shoppers looking to buy in bulk. Although membership is not required, paying the annual $50 or $100 fee will give you access to a slew of discounts that nonmembers do not receive.
The 2014 ad features dozens of “clipless coupons.” Just log onto bjs.com to receive the instant discounts on consumer electronics, home appliances and more.
The first few pages are filled with TVs: smart, LED and high-definition. You’ll find discounts up to $1,000, but make sure to compare the discounted price to the non-Black Friday cost at Amazon to figure out just how much of a deal you’re getting. For example, the 60-inch LED Samsung 1080p smart HDTV (model UN60H6300) features a $730 discount off its original price of $1,699.99, but compared with Amazon’s non-promotional price of $1,137.90, your discount will be more modest: $167.91, or just under 15%.
The selection features a range of Samsung LED HDTVs ranging from 32 to 65 inches. The choices are more limited for other brands, such as LG (a 55-inch 4KUHD smart LED TV is going for $1,299.99, compared with its original $1,799.99), Vizio ($100 off on a 48-inch 1080p LED HDTV: $389.99) and RCA ($100 off on a 40-inch 1080p LED HDTV: $249.99).
If you’re looking for electronics, you’ll find deals on phones, tablets, laptops, printers, security cameras, speakers, cameras and more. Here are some of the best offers in the electronics department:
- 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (8GB): $149.99 ($40 off)
- 10.1-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (16GB): $249.99 ($90 off)
- Nikon Coolpix L830 (16MP, 34x optical zoom) with bonus 8GB SDHC: $130 off
- Canon HFR500 3.28MP CMOS digital camcorder (57x advanced zoom) bundle with 32GB SD card and bag: $199.99 ($100 off)
- SanDisk Cruzer Glide 64GB USB flash drive: $29.99
- Stack-on PS-508 wide-body safe with electric lock: $49.99 ($30 off)
If you’re shopping for the home, you can grab deals on a range of goods from kitchenware to bedding to home appliances and more:

- Sharp stainless-steel microwave: $99.99 ($50 off)

Best BJ’s Wholesale Club Black Friday Deals From 2013
Membership warehouse retail chain BJ’s Wholesale Club is a provider of electronics, office supplies, sports equipment, toys, jewelry and beauty products. The members-only store operates 201 locations in 15 states along the East Coast.
In 2013, BJ’s Wholesale Club debuted a 24-page Black Friday ad filled with more than 150 deals. The membership warehouse store took seasonal savings to a new level with a whole week of Black Friday savings. This included three time-limited waves of savings: from Nov. 24 through Dec. 1, from Nov. 29 through Dec. 1 and online from Nov. 27 through Dec. 2. Shoppers just needed to check during which time frame their favorite product was on sale. There was one day in this week that the club wasn’t open, though. BJ’s publicly announced its decision to close on Thanksgiving Day so that both employees and customers could observe the holiday.
During the time the store was open, there were plenty of jolly deals within the pages of the green-and-red-themed ad. There were specials on everything from food to electronics. Some of the notable deals across all categories were:
- Samsung 65-inch 1080p 120HZ Smart LED HDTV for $1,469.99
- Samsung 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3 for $289.99
- Shark Lift Around Pod Vacuum for $49.99
- Canon PIXMA MX722 Wireless All-in-One Printer for $79.99
- Epic A30T Treadmill for $999.99
- Sony Black or White Noise-Cancelling Headphones for $24.99
- Buy one, get one free on select food products
Don’t forget about the coupons. BJ’s also devoted two pages of its ad to instant savings coupons. These included $150 off all diamond earrings priced $599.99 and above and $70 off any set of four Michelin Passenger or Light Truck tires.
It wasn’t just the Black Friday ad, either. BJ’s also released a toy book ad that was perfect for those looking to help Santa check items off his list. The “Holiday Happenings in the Making” book was filled with all of the season’s best toys and gifts. Certain items in the ad were BJ’s exclusives or exclusive bundles, such as the Doc McStuffins Doctor’s Bag Set with Lambie for $19.99, Imaginext Dragon Mega Set for $59.99, Disney Wooden Magnetic Doll Set for $19.99, Disney Deluxe Music Star for $34.99 and Learning Journey Preschool Playbox for $19.99.
The specials weren’t just numerous. They were valuable, too. Take the Keurig K65 Gourmet Single-Serve Brewer, for instance. BJ’s advertised the item for $99.99. Retailer Bon-Ton advertised a less advanced model – the Keurig K45 Elite Brewer – for nearly the same price, at $99.97.
The one qualifier for this discount, and the rest, too, was the fact that BJ’s is a membership-based club. Shoppers needed a paid membership to be able to cash in on these holiday deals.
