Best Music & Arts Black Friday Deals From 2013

Retail specialty chain Music & Arts, a division of Guitar Center, is a provider of band and orchestra equipment. The store sells a broad selection of instruments, musical software and accessories for personal, professional and classroom use. Additionally, it provides instrument rentals, lessons and repairs.

Last year, in a humble four-page Black Friday ad, the music specialty store revealed a relatively limited number of musical deals. The number of actual sales may have been small, but the number of sale days certainly wasn’t. Black Friday became a weeklong affair at Music & Arts, with seasonal savings starting a whole week early. With this extended sale period, there was really no need for deal seekers to stake out the store early for their dream drum set or must-have guitar. The savings of up to $200 off – such as on an E11 Wooden Clarinet – lasted longer than just a one-day special.

The deals may have been limited, but the items the ad did feature had some massive price cuts. Jasmine by TAKAMINE Acoustic Guitars were on sale for $99.99 ($100 off), CASIO 88-Key Pianos were on sale for $299.99 ($150 off) and Tornado Drum Sets were also on sale for $299.99 ($150 off). Shoppers could also go home with an Ibanez Electric Guitar Pack for $149.99 ($100 off) or a Harbinger PA System for $149.99 ($50 off). The latter also included a free vocal microphone, a free microphone stand and a free cable (a combined $79.95 value).

Added opportunities for scoring savings included a 15% off coupon that was valid for the entire weeklong holiday shopping period. Plus, all guitar strings, On-Stage/FretRest guitar stands and all holiday print music were buy two, get one free.

Music & Arts made the most of its four-page Black Friday ad, but savvy deal shoppers did need to look at the promotion’s fine print: Some deals were available on Black Friday only – not throughout the weeklong event. Additionally, the 15%-off coupon stated that it was not valid with other discounts, offers, earlier purchases, sales, clearance or discontinued items. The store didn’t have a huge variety of deals, but it did offer fairly impressive sale prices on the deals it did advertise. Plus, no matter your instrument of choice, there was likely a discount for you.
