The biggest shopping day of the year is almost here! Retailers are getting especially creative in their attempts to win over customers’ business from their competitors. In fact, a major trend this year is stores offering gift cards to shoppers when they purchase a certain item or reach a specific spending limit, essentially paying people to shop! When making your Black Friday shopping plan, take the following gift card deals into consideration when calculating the amount you’ll truly save.
Target: $100 gift card with iPad Air purchase
That’s right, if an iPad Air is on your shopping list this Black Friday, you’ll get a $100 Target gift card simply for purchasing it at Target. The device is listed for $479, which is $20 cheaper than the Apple store and you’ll essentially be getting it for $379. This is a pretty great deal.
If you’re after something smaller, like the iPad mini, you won’t be left out of the bonus gift card deal either. The first-generation model, not the new one, will be priced at $299 and bundled with a $75 gift card. Scoring the iPad mini for a grand total of $224, after gift card savings, is also a very competitive deal, if you don’t mind having the older model. However, you just might be able to get a slightly better deal elsewhere…
Walmart: $100 gift card with iPad Mini purchase
Walmart has outdone Target on the iPad mini gift card deal. The retail giant will be selling the device for $299 – the same price as Target – but offering a $100 Walmart gift card with purchase. Again, this is also an amazing deal if you don’t mind purchasing the older model.
The store is also offering a gift card bonus to shoppers who purchase the iPhone 5c ($45) or the iPhone 5s ($189), with a two-year contract. Either phone will get you a $75 store gift card. So essentially you’ll get paid $30 for purchasing the iPhone 5c. That is pretty amazing!
Kohl’s: $15 Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent
It’s back! The annual Kohl’s Cash deal is here again for Black Friday 2013. This one may be too much for an avid Kohl’s shopper to pass up: you get $15 back in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend. While the Kohl’s Cash can’t be used immediately, you can head back to the store December 2 through December 9 to use it on all the items on your list that you didn’t purchase on Black Friday.
Toys “R” Us: $50 gift card with 16GB iPod Touch purchase
If you’re hoping to purchase a 16GB iPod Touch this season, Toys “R” Us is your destination. The device will be sold at its regular price of $229, with a $50 store gift card. After your gift card savings, you’re essentially only paying $179 for it. While you’re there, you can also save $10 on every $50 iTunes gift card purchase.
This really is a great deal, as Best Buy currently offers the 16GB iPod Touch on sale for $199, which is still more expensive. Walmart sells it for $214.99, which, while the lowest everyday price around, still can’t compare to the Toys “R” Us Black Friday Deal.
RadioShack: $50 online Visa with qualifying phone purchase
RadioShack is throwing a curveball in the Black Friday gift card game by offering a Visa gift card, instead of one specific to the store. You’ll receive the gift card with the purchase of any qualifying phone with two-year contract, including hot models like the iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S4, Motorola Moto X, Samsung Galaxy Note II and more.
This is a solid deal; these phones are offered for similar prices at other major retailers, but you’ll receive a gift card that can be used anywhere, instead of just in the store where you purchased the phone.
H.H. Gregg: $100 Gift Card with the purchase of any Verizon 4G LTE Smartphone or Mobile Hotspot
Anyone in the market for a Verizon 4G LTE smartphone or mobile hotspot should head to H.H. Gregg this Black Friday. You’ll be able to get a $100 H.H. Gregg gift card with the purchase of devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note3, Samsung Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 5s. The only catch is you’ll need to sign up for a two-year Verizon contract, so if you’re planning to go with another provider, this won’t be your best bet. However, if you’re already a Verizon customer, or don’t mind switching over, this is an excellent offer.
Retailers are really amping up the competition this Black Friday, and savvy customers stand to stand to profit! If you’re planning to partake in the festivities of the biggest shopping day of the year, you just may be able to score some really great gift cards for purchasing items already on your list!
