Whether it’s winter boots or stylish heels you’re looking for this season, Black Friday and its sister, Cyber Monday, are great times to find low prices on footwear.
Last year, the shopping holidays featured discounts in shoe departments across the country. For consumers who chose the cyberapproach to shopping, online stores offered a wealth of deals on shoes, including sitewide markdowns and free shipping.
To get an idea of what to expect from retailers this season, here’s a look at what some of the most popular online shoe retailers offered in 2013:
Athletic Shoes and Sneakers
Whether you run, play basketball or just go on the occasional walk, athletic shoes and sneakers make a great investment, especially if you can get them for a discount.
At Nike.com, shoppers received 25% off clearance items from Cyber Monday through the following Tuesday, with the promotional code MOVEMORE. Nike offers shoes for running, basketball, football and more.
Athletic and casual footwear retailer Puma offered free shipping for Cyber Monday, along with a tiered discount based on order total. Shoppers who spent at least $75 got 20% off their order, while orders of at least $100 qualified the customer for a 30% markdown. Purchasing at least $150 worth of merchandise came with a discount of 40%.
Although it didn’t feature any discounts, classic sneaker brand Converse offered its customers free shipping from the Wednesday before Thanksgiving through Dec. 11.
When it came to designer shoes, the House of Harlow 1960 offered a 25% discount across its entire site for Cyber Monday. The promotion required the code BLACKHOH.
Other deals on high-end brands included 50% off on boots and booties at Nine West and up to 75% off select shoes and more at Kate Spade. Both sales lasted through Nov. 30.
Shoppers looking for footwear from Steve Madden could take advantage of a 30% discount off their entire order, along with free shipping through Cyber Monday. To apply the discounts, customers had to enter the code THANKFUL30.
At Aldo, online shoppers received a 30% discount on already marked-down shoes.
Offering a wide selection of designer shoes, primarily in women’s styles, online retailer Bluefly gave its customers 10-40% off select styles, along with free shipping. Serious shoppers who spent at least $200 received an additional $40 off their purchases.
The Gap spinoff Piperlime specializes in women’s fashion, offering an inventory that includes apparel and footwear. In its shoe department, the retailer features brands like Steve Madden, Joie, Sorel and Kate Spade. During Piperlime’s Black Friday sale last year, the online store featured a 30% discount with the promotional code THANKS. The sale lasted until Nov. 27 and included free shipping on all purchases.
Shoes for Kids and Teens
It wasn’t just adult footwear that got marked down last year. A number of online retailers that offer styles for kids and teens featured discounts on their inventories.
Focusing on teen fashion, online retailer Journeys offered 30-50% off select styles, as well as free shipping on orders of $39.99 or more. With kids’, men’s and women’s sizes, Journeys targets the 13- to 22-year-old market and features brands such as Converse, Dr. Martens, Keds and Hello Kitty.
At Famous Footwear, shoppers can find a broad selection of styles and prices in brand-name shoes for women, men and kids. During its Cyber Monday sale last year, all shoes were part of a buy-one-get-one-free offer. Shoppers who applied the promotional code MONDAY20 received a 20% discount on their orders, along with free shipping.
