CVS Best Black Friday Deals from 2012

Savvy shoppers already know that toothpaste and hair clips aren’t the only stocking stuffers to be found at CVS. In addition to medications and personal care items, the pharmacy retailer has long stocked their shelves with seasonal gifts, including toys, electronics and gift sets in a variety of categories. Although the company’s 2012 ad scan totaled a scant three pages, it was a good example of the types of gift-appropriate items to be found there.

The major condition of these Black Friday deals? They were available only to shoppers with a CVS rewards card, so make sure you’ve got one before the big day rolls around.

CVS gave shoppers half off on these ready-to-wrap items, all originally $9.99:

  • Warm & Cozy fleece robe
  • 10-piece bath sampler set
  • 11-piece bath set in gift tub
  • 8-piece Essence of Beauty body & hand cream sampler set

Nine different fragrance gift sets from names like Nautica and CK One were likewise marked Buy 1, Get 1 Free at their original $19.99 price.

You’ll usually find a decent selection of toys at CVS any time of year, although only four specific items were advertised here:

  • Discovery Kids Color Me rocket ship, playhouse or castle: $12.99 (orig. $19.99)
  • Radio control truck or car: $9.99
  • Wireless indoor helicopter: $12.88 (orig. $19.99)
  • Dream Lites (as seen on TV): $27.88

One section exclaimed, cryptically, “Toys! Buy 1, Get 1 Free,” without specifying which toys that deal applied to, but it’s probably safe to assume the selection varied widely by store.

CVS isn’t the first name that comes to mind when you think of electronics shopping, and it still shouldn’t be. Still, the four items that were listed represent some of the store’s more substantial gift options.

  • 7” Android wireless touch screen tablet: $78.88 (orig. $99.99)
  • RCA 13.3” LED HDTV DVD Combo: $88.88 (orig. $149.99)
  • Sylvania DVD player: $18.88 (orig. 29.99)
  • Sylvania Home Theater System with DVD player, iCraig tower speaker, AM/FM Vintage CD Jukebox and popcorn popper or Sunbeam microwave oven: $48.88 (orig. $59.99-$69.99)

On top of its basic price cuts, last year’s ad included a coupon for 25% off your entire purchase, which could be used any time Thursday through Saturday. As with any of the ad’s other deals this promotion could only be used with a CVS card.

The rest of the ad focused on special Extrabucks rewards, which are nice, but don’t offer the same instant gratification of a cartful of half-off toys.
