NerdWallet reviews the 2012 Black Friday season by reviewing the leaked ad scans in full and telling you what’s worth leaving the house for. Come back and visit again to see if you favorite merchant’s ad has been leaked.
The full Black Friday ad isn’t out yet, but Victoria’s Secret has revealed that stores will be giving away a free Limited Edition Victoria’s Secret Tote with every $65+ purchase on Black Friday. The tote will contain “beauty must-haves inside,” which basically means the bag will be full of assorted Victoria’s Secret products. Victoria’s Secret has given out the tote for the past few years and the tote has a great reputation for including exciting items, so if you’re wanting to score this item, go shopping early – the tote bags are limited in supply.
Last year the bag was made of imported polyester and measured 22” L by 13” H by 6” W. Here’s a look at what the bag included last year:
- VS Fantasies Sheer Love Hydrating Body Lotion (4.2 oz)
- Victoria’s Secret Bombshell Body Mist (2.5 oz)
- VS Makeup PRO Airbrush FX Face Primer SPF 20 (.14 oz)
- Victoria’s Secret Angel Eau de Perfume (.05 oz).
All in all, the bag included a pretty solid mix of lotions, sprays and perfumes. We expect a very similar haul from the tote this year – probably four items again, ranging across a few different beauty categories.
Victoria’s Secret hasn’t of yet released the rest of their Black Friday deals, but we can take an educated guess at what might be offered by sizing up Victoria’s Secret offers from last year. Check out the deals from last year:
|Victoria’s Secret 2011 Black Friday Item||Black Friday Deal|
|Bras (excluding PINK multiples)||Buy one get one 50% off, with 2nd bra at equal or lesser value|
|Pajamas||$39.50, down from $49.50|
|Robe||$39.50, down from $59.50|
|VS Pink Crewneck or Yoga Pant||$25, down from $39.50|
Why does last year tell us about Victoria’s Secret Black Friday 2012? For starters, Victoria’s Secret doesn’t roll out huge item-by-item deals like some other major retailers. Victoria’s Secret keeps it pretty simple – instead of trying to clear out the whole store on one day, the retailer strategically discounts a few popular pieces.
The tote is really the incentive to get in the store, however – check out this crowd waiting for the retailer to open in Modesto, CA last year. There’s no reason for Victoria’s Secret to give steep discounts on their items because the free tote is already a great value. Don’t be discouraged if the Victoria’s Secret Black Friday ad seems a bit underwhelming this year – remember that the tote more than outweighs what might appear to be a less than stellar sale. Our advice? Get a couple pieces you might like, hit the $65 mark, and hope you’re in early enough to grab that tote bag and all the essentials inside of it.
