At NerdWallet, we strive to help you make financial decisions with confidence. To do this, many or all of the products featured here are from our partners. However, this doesn’t influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own.

While you may think it’s wisest to start saving your money now and hold off on any major purchases until spectacular Black Friday deals roll around, that’s actually not always the best plan. There are some categories of products that you won’t want to wait until Nov. 28 – or anytime other than right now – to buy.

Here are a few items that you can find the best deals on until mid-November, from the least expensive to the most expensive:

Get Your Green Thumb On

You may not be thinking about buying plants on Black Friday – or even considering buying them anytime soon – but maybe you should. The key to snagging sweet savings before the big shopping day is finding items that are out of season, and surprisingly, now is the perfect time for plant shopping.

Garden shrubs and perennials can be as much as 60% less right now than they are at other times during the year. You may not actually be planting your garden, but you can get yourself ready for spring now. Consider buying bulbs and long-living plants.

Grab Some Denim Deals

Despite the apparel sales on denim that you’ll likely be seeing in Black Friday department store ads, you’d actually be better off buying your jeans now. Why? Stores still have some surplus inventories of jeans remaining after their back-to-school sales.

Some popular brands with huge annual discount events at this time of year are Lucky Brand and 7 For All Mankind, according to PopSugar. If you’re looking for a bargain, complete your wardrobe now instead of waiting for lackluster Black Friday deals on denim.

Pick Up a Discounted iPad

On the heels of the big iPhone 6 and 6 Plus release in September, technology giant Apple unveiled more new products last month. The iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 tablets both debuted in mid-October.

The sweet spot for an iPad deal is just before and just after the big tablet unveiling, and that’s before Black Friday. With these new models on the market, older models are now discounted, spelling savings for consumers.

If you don’t mind having an older version of the tablets, you can score a pretty decent deal on one right now. In fact, Apple has already discounted the iPad Air and iPad mini 2. The iPad Air 16GB, for example, is now $399. That’s $100 less than when it debuted in 2013.

Camp or Yard: Shop Like It’s Summer

Whether you seek a grill or some camping equipment, now is an excellent time to buy all types of outdoor living essentials.

With summer becoming a distant memory, stores are likely motivated to unload their warm-weather products. This equals deals and discounts for savvy shoppers. Patio furniture is marked down as much as 75% in October, according to U.S. News and World Report. Consider purchasing these products now, before retailers get cleared out of their clearance items.

If your definition of outdoor living includes clothes or gear for cold weather, though, you’ll want to still hold off on those.

Drive a New Car Off the Lot

The two best times of year to buy a car – according to – are late December and July through October. Neither one of these periods includes Black Friday. If you’d rather not wait until the end of the year to bring home your new vehicle, you can act now and drive away with a great deal.

New car models are unveiled in September, which means car lots are motivated to move inventory, especially before the end of the year. You can take advantage of this pressure by making your purchase ASAP. Note that you’ll find better prices on last season’s car models than the newly debuted ones.
