Everyone knows that the more sleep you get, the more productive you are in your daily activities, but just how can a fitness tracker such as the Fitbit Flex help you sleep better? Let’s investigate how getting a deal on the Flex can help you deal with suboptimal sleep.

How It Helps You Sleep

The Fitbit Flex, which was featured in the New York Times, has the ability to track your sleep efficiently by calculating how long you actually slept by tracing your movements as you dream.

To track your sleep, all you need to do is put your Fitbit Flex in sleep mode by tapping on your Flex rapidly for up to two seconds.  Your Fitbit Flex will then vibrate and two lights will turn on to show that you successfully turned on sleep mode. Tap rapidly again when you wake up to turn off sleep mode. Just be sure to wear your tracker on your wrist to get the most accurate results.

Once you start collecting data, you can then use that data to track your sleep to determine if you are getting enough sleep or if you need to make some changes to your sleep habits — Knowing your Fitbit Flex sleep data can not only help you make improvements in your sleep patterns, but also in your quality of life.

By comparing data your data over a period of time, you will be able to see for example, if the more exercise you got during any given day helped you to sleep better. Maybe running around the block an extra time made a difference.

The same goes for your eating habits. Perhaps you had a cup of coffee at 3:00 p.m., you will be able to see, by using your tracker, if you had more trouble falling asleep that night. Try the experiment the next day by having your last cup of coffee earlier in the day – did you fall asleep faster?

You can also track your naps with your Fitbit Flex.  Put it in sleep mode and then use the data to compare to see if you were more rested after taking a nap or if taking a nap helped you to sleep better at night.

Optimal Wake Time

Waking up in the middle of a dream can set you off on the wrong foot, but the Fitbit Flex can help you wake up at exactly the right time.  You can set your Fitbit to gently wake you up in the morning with a vibration with up to 8 alarms, vibrating every 9 minutes to ensure you wake up on time.
