Happy and healthy employees make for the best employees. Knowing this, the makers of Fitbit Flex have created a Corporate Wellness program that aims to create a culture of well being in the office, as well as increase employee productivity and the loss of days lost at work since healthy employees aren’t as likely to call out sick.

The program

Based on the number of employees in your business, the popular Fitbit Wellness program tailors a fitness program that will benefit every member of your staff – and potentially be a great deal.

For a staff of 100, your business’ employees can benefit from weekly seminars, access to individual dashboards. For a staff of 100-1,000, employees will get weekly webinars, access to individual dashboards and bulk rate pricing for subsidized programs.  And for a staff of 1,000 or more, employees get weekly webinars, access to individual dashboards, bulk rate pricing for subsided programs, custom shopping cart for employees for easy distribution, ongoing support from a Fitbit account team, instant on boarding employees, real-time interactive program dashboard and company specific experience on for participants.

Corporate companies already using the services of Fitbit include GNC, PB, Boston College and Sharp, with oil giant BP using its program to task its employees with goals such as a million-step challenge where participants earn “wellness points,” according to an article by  By participating in the BP program, employees get a free Fitbit tracker, as well as other benefits by earning points through wellness activities.

Likewise, Bates College, which also uses Fitbit’s cooperate fitness program, has created programs like eight-week team competitions using the Fitbit to encourage increased physical activity and weight loss. All participants get discounts on salads at the employee snack bar and were able to earn the right to keep their Fitbit tracker.

Vista Staffing Solutions also used Fitbit’s trackers to help increase employee productivity and to cut down on health care costs through a program that helped its employees shed 800 pounds collectively.

Other Corporate Wellness Programs

As corporate wellness programs continue to rise, a number of other companies have begun to offer services similar to the Fitbit Wellness program.

For example, Jawbone offers special programs to businesses that order over 50 Jawbones for their employees.  The Jawbone corporate wellness programs include custom pricing, full warranty, as well as input into future products and releases. One company that has taken advantage of the program is Appirio, which issued Jawbone’s to 200 employees to help boost fitness and wellness through a program called, CloudFit, which incorporates a virtual fitness trainer.
