If you’re shopping for any kids younger than 10 this holiday season, you’re probably familiar with the overwhelming popularity of the LeapFrog LeapPad2.
Is this junior tablet on the pricey side when it comes to children’s gifts? Perhaps, but it does come with some impressive features.
The LeapPad2 features five apps, 4GB memory, camera, video recorder and touch screen with stylus. By tilting and shaking the tablet, children can explore games, eBooks, videos and music, create art, play with virtual pets and more.
Most important (to parents, anyway), the tablet emphasizes reading comprehension by encouraging children to sound out difficult words and adapting automatically as their skills improve. If this popular product has made its way onto your little one’s gift list, don’t miss out on some of the best LeapFrog LeapPad2 holiday deals of 2014.
Ways to Save
In one of the easiest ways to save, Leapfrog.com lists the LeapPad2 for $99.99 but is discounting it to $79.99 – a savings of $20 – plus throwing in free shipping.
Another relatively simple way to get a bargain: Walmart is offering the LeapPad2 for $59, a discount of more than 40%. It’s out of stock online, but you can search store availability right from the product page.
Good news for shoppers interested in picking up the hottest LeapPad accessories: Toys R Us is bundling the tablet with games, skins and other goodies for the Leapfrog.com list price of $99.99. You can choose the Power Play and Protect Variety Pack – Pink or the Monsters University Varsity Edition Bundle, each of which has unique extras featuring your child’s favorite Disney characters. The Monsters Inc. pack is sold in stores, and the pink variety pack ships to stores for free, but does not ship to homes.
Amazon.com, always a low-priced competitor, lists the LeapPad2 for $79.95 with free shipping, nearly equivalent to the Leapfrog.com listing, but other Amazon sellers are selling the tablet new from $64.99. If you sign up for Amazon Prime, you’ll incur a cost upfront, but will qualify for year-round free two-day shipping from Amazon and all Amazon affiliates.
Willing to put in a bit more effort to achieve extra savings? Best Buy’s offer is competitive with Walmart’s, listing the LeapPad2 for $64.99, a $35 savings. The tablet qualifies for free shipping or you can search for store availability. If you also sign up for a Best Buy Rewards card, you can receive 5% back in rewards.
Another medium-difficulty deals comes courtesy of Kohl’s. The retailer is offering an online-only gift set made up of the tablet, a “Disney Jake & the Never Land Pirates” game and a gel skin, all for the list price of the tablet, $99.99. Now until Dec. 24, enter the code SHIP4UDEC at checkout and take 20% off sitewide plus $10 Kohl’s cash for every $50 spent, plus free shipping by signing up for a Kohl’s Charge Card.
If you miss the Kohl’s Dec. 24 deadline, you can receive further savings if you sign up for a Kohl’s Charge Card: 15% off your next purchase, knocking the price of the gift set down to $85. To save even more throughout the year, the Kohl’s Charge Card gets you another 15% discount when your card comes in the mail, plus at least 12 special discounts of 30%, 20% or 15% every year.
