Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This may influence which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own.

There are just some things you should never make in a blender and of course, there are recipes that are best and easiest made with a blender, such as the powerful Ninja NJ600. If you aren’t sure when to use which kitchen tool, keep reading.

Best in a Blender

You will never make a frozen drink or any kind better than in a blender, such as the Ninja NJ600. Blenders are made for making milkshakes, pina coladas, strawberry daiquiris and of course, smoothies of any kind, including Pineapple Chia smoothies for which you can find a recipe for in the New York Times.

Hard-core blenders, such as the Ninja NJ600, which features a BPA-free, 72-oz pitcher, are also made with enough power to chop nuts, smoothing them into a delicious peanut butter treat. Blenders can also be used effectively for smashing apples into applesauce.

But that isn’t all blenders can do. They should also be used to help you mix up ingredients to make sauces to pour over pizza or pasta, soup for a cold winter night, dressings for a summer salad, and on Thanksgiving, use your Ninja to get the lumps out of your mashed potatoes.

Some chefs also use their blenders, with great success, to make refreshing green salads, coleslaw and even desserts, including pudding and whipped cream.

Best Without A Blender

While there are so many great things you can make with a blender, there are some things that you should leave your blender unplugged for.

For example, if you plan on baking a fresh, loaf of bread, a blender is not going to get the job done. Instead, you are going to need to break out your stand mixer to help you knead your dough that you carefully made by mixing up your flour and yeast.

You are also not going to use your blender to make fresh pasta.  That job is best left to a stand mixer that is fully loaded with a pasta attachment or hand-mixing your pasta dough and then employing a pasta press to press it out into perfect stands of spaghetti.

You should also never, ever whip out your blender to mix ingredients for a cake or cupcakes. While a blender can mix with the best, using it to stir your cake or cupcake batter will result in a dessert that is either too dense or too chewy.  For that job, its best to use a hand mixer, fork or whisk.

Blenders are also not made to grind raw meats, transforming chunks of beef into perfect burgers. Instead, you will want to purchase a meat grinder or some stand mixers come equipped with meat grinder attachments. You can also simply use an extra-sharp knife.
