Veterans Day honors members of our military, past and present, and retailers and restaurants recognize that service by offering special deals this weekend. Here’s a roundup of the best places to save money and possibly get a head start on Black Friday shopping.

Apparel and accessories

  1. American Giant: The high-quality hoodie manufacturer offers 20% off to verified active-duty members and veterans at American Giant’s online store.
  2. Eastbay: Active service members, veterans and their dependents get 20% off Eastbay orders after successful verification. Shoppers apply the discount at checkout by clicking “military discounts” under promo codes.
  3. Macy’s: Through Nov. 12, Macy’s offers up to 60% off home goods and apparel, including 60% off 14-piece king- or queen-sized bedding sets and 30% off various coffee makers. Select apparel categories such as women’s boots, juniors sweaters and men’s jackets are also featured under the sale.
  4. Men’s Wearhouse: Veterans and military service members earn $25 off any $100 purchase starting Friday, Nov. 11.
  5. Quiksilver and Roxy: Active duty, National Guard, veterans, reservists, dependents and spouses take 15% off online purchases.
  6. Toms: Active-duty service members veterans get 10% off on Toms.com orders.

7. Baskin-Robbins: For every ice cream scoop sold, Baskin-Robbins will donate 11 cents to the USO.

8. Buffalo Wild Wings: Participating BWW locations will provide a complimentary order of traditional or boneless wings and a side of fries to veterans and active-duty military members. The offer is available all day and for dine-in guests only.

9. Fazoli’s: Veterans get a free Build Your Own Pasta Bowl, no purchase necessary.

10. Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse: Military veterans and active-duty service members receive 50% off their meals on Nov. 11. Additional guests (up to three) will receive 10% off their meals as well, excluding beverages, dessert, tax and gratuity.

11. Gordon Biersch: Free appetizer for veterans and active-duty personnel, no purchase necessary.

12. LongHorn Steakhouse: Veterans and active-duty military receive a complimentary appetizer or dessert. Guests accompanying a veteran will receive 10% off their meals.

13. Olive Garden: Veterans receive a free entree from Olive Garden’s special Veterans Day menu. All entrees come with unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks.

14. Red Lobster: On Nov. 10 and 11, veterans, active-duty personnel and reservists will get a free appetizer or dessert from Red Lobster when they present a valid military ID.

15. Turkey Hill Minit Market: Veterans, active-duty and retired military personnel can pick up a free 16-ounce coffee or cappuccino at any Turkey Hill store in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. Locations with car washes also offer complimentary car washes.

16. Bed Bath & Beyond: Military service members and their families earn 25% off their entire purchase from Nov. 10 through Nov. 13. U.S. military ID required at time of purchase.

17. J.C. Penney: As part of the Veterans Day sale, take 30 to 50% off select home items, including bedding, small kitchen appliances and rugs. Select mattresses and furniture are available 40 to 60% off. No military ID required to claim discounts.

18. Jo-Ann Fabric: From Nov. 10 through Nov. 12, shoppers can find up to 60% off a wide selection of fabric prints, including sports teams, harvest patterns and artist brands. Coupons are also available on Jo-Ann’s site, offering up to 60% off on one-regular priced item for in-store purchase or discounts on custom frames. Read coupon details carefully, as some are valid in-store only.

19. Newegg: Active-duty military personnel, reservists, veterans and their dependents receive 10% off their entire order, with a maximum discount of $20.

20. Sears: Now through Nov. 19, Sears’ Heroes at Home for the Holidays program assists low-income veterans in need of wheelchair accessibility ramps in their homes. Part of the sales of select items, including a Kenmore patriotic laundry pair, Craftsman Heroes at Home hat and collectible holiday ornaments will go to the Veterans Day initiative. Customers can also contribute at checkout, with 100% of the proceeds delivered to the program.

21. Sleep Train: Through Nov. 27, save up to $600 on select Tempur-Pedic mattresses and $400 on select Beautyrest and Posturepedic mattresses after mail-in rebate.
