The travel rewards offer that’s had the internet abuzz — a limited-time offer that includes a promotional Southwest Companion Pass — is about to disappear. But it’s not too late to grab this perk by signing up for any of three credit cards by Feb. 11, 2019.
That sign-up deadline isn’t the only ticking clock. The pass is good for travel only through Dec. 31, 2019. The welcome bonus in full is: Earn 40,000 points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open.
But that travel, barring taxes and small fees, is free and unlimited for a designated companion who flies with you before the end of the year.

The card pays 2 Southwest points per $1 on Southwest purchases and Rapid Rewards Hotel and Car Rental Partner purchases. It pays 1 point per $1 on all other purchases.

The Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card has a $99 annual fee. There are no foreign transaction fees and every year on your cardmember anniversary you’ll get 6,000 bonus points. The earnings are the same as on the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card: 2 points per $1 spent with Southwest and 1 point per $1 on other purchases.
The Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card has the highest annual fee, $149, which is offset by some nice perks: no foreign transaction fees, a $75 Southwest travel credit every year and 7,500 bonus points on your cardmember anniversary. You’ll also get 20% back on in-flight purchases made with the card and four upgraded boardings per year, when available.
