Southwest Adds More Flights for the Super Bowl

Football fans are in luck. Southwest Airlines is offering additional flights to help L.A. Rams and New England Patriots fans get to Atlanta for the Super Bowl.

In keeping with their mission to offer as many direct flights as possible, the airline is adding two flights from Boston to Atlanta on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019. That means there will be four direct flights in total on Friday before the big game.

Rams fans from both Los Angeles and the team’s previous hometown, St. Louis, can benefit from one extra direct flight to the Super Bowl host city on Feb. 1. L.A.-based fans will have two direct flights to choose from, while St. Louis-based fans can pick one of five total flights to get to the game.

The carrier has also added four flights to help fans return to Boston, L.A. and St. Louis after the game.

The flights are pricey, but Southwest Rapid Rewards members can still pony up points for these premium flights to get to the game for almost free. Currently, the cheapest flights from Boston to Atlanta departing on Feb. 1 and returning Feb. 4 start at 34,297 points each way. Southwest members will also have to pay about $11 in fees.

Football fans willing to use some frequent flier miles will among the more than one million visitors expected to descend on Atlanta in for Super Bowl LLIII.
