Pros and cons

Pros
  • High rewards rate

  • No foreign transaction fee

Cons
  • Has annual fee

The $0 intro for the first year, then $150-annual-fee Barclays Arrival® Premier World Elite Mastercard® is a strong choice for folks who plan to spend $25,000 a year or more on it. Although it lacks a sign-up bonus, the versatile travel card doles out annual loyalty bonuses for big spenders:

-After making $15,000 in purchases in a cardmember year, you'll get 15,000 loyalty bonus miles.

-After making $25,000 in purchases in a cardmember year, you'll get another 10,000 loyalty bonus miles.

You'll also earn a solid 2 miles per dollar spent on everyday purchases, worth 1 cent each when redeemed toward travel purchases. Plus, you’ll get a $100 reimbursement every five years toward Global Entry application fees. The card is worth taking on international trips, too: It’s chip-and-PIN enabled — which means you can even use it at certain parking meters and kiosks abroad — and doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees.

For those who plan to spend less than $25,000 a year on a card, there are better options. But for travelers who spend enough and prefer to stick to one card, the Barclays Arrival® Premier World Elite Mastercard® is a keeper. For more information, check out NerdWallet's full review of this card.
