NerdWallet adheres to strict standards of editorial integrity to help you make decisions with confidence. Some of the products we feature are from partners. Here’s how we make money.

The Citi® Secured Mastercard® is a decent option if you're just starting to build credit. You won't get approved, however, if you've had a bankruptcy in the last two years. This suggests that the card may be difficult to get if you've experienced other credit missteps.

To be approved, you must provide between $200 and $2,500 for a security deposit, and your credit limit will match the deposit. The card's annual fee is $0.
