Compensation Lead

NerdWallet's mission is to provide clarity for all of life’s financial decisions. The People Operations team mission is to recruit, retain, and develop our Nerds so they can be their best selves and do their best work at NerdWallet. In order to support the next level of growth, NerdWallet is looking for a talented Compensation Lead to join their growing People Ops team. You will work closely with the People team, leadership and client groups to support, lead and guide their business leaders with strategic compensation programs and initiatives that best support our Nerds.

Where you can make an impact:

  • Continue to evolve and make recommendations on compensation programs including appropriate pay levels, base pay, annual incentive pay and equity compensation
  • Evaluate new positions as they’re created and provide counsel on how to think of those within the confines guidelines
  • Advise the recruiting team and business leaders on compensation philosophies and practices, solve compensation-related issues in leveling, new hire offers and internal transfers
  • Implement new tools, programs and compensation training programs to ensure Nerds are effective in hiring and retaining talent
  • Develop decision support models and conduct statistical analyses to solve specific compensation issues
  • Provide direction around compensation and broader people operations program development in a highly competitive and constantly changing environment

You are:

  • Keen on interpreting quantitative and qualitative information with the ability to present complex data in a user-friendly format that conveys research and findings
  • Strategic and have hands-on experience with broad-based compensation and equity initiatives and programs
  • Organized, diligent and take great pride in your proactive approach with a self-starter mentality and a strong work ethic
  • Excited to be part of a collaborative People team, with the opportunity to leverage your analytical and quantitative skills to help evolve compensation, workforce planning, people analytics, and talent management programs and initiatives

Your experience:

  • 2-4 years of compensation experience; open to consulting or in-house expertise
  • A proven track record in excelling in a fast-paced environment with changing business needs while remaining creative and innovative
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills including the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way and tailor key messages and presentation style to various audiences
