Director of Platform Engineering

The Director of Platform Engineering is responsible for leading, expanding, coordinating, and maintaining the Platform development and delivery plans working with high-performance technical teams in our San Francisco office.

Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for managing multiple engineering managers and ensuring that they and their teams are successful - measured by continual improvement and overall delivery of business needs.

You’ll help cascade best practices for the engineering organization down to your teams, as well as look for opportunities for your teams to incubate ideas and to share what they learn with the rest of the organization.

You’ll also be accountable for growing your team, both through hiring a diverse team, as well as coaching your team to take on more responsibility.  To do so, this means you’ll cascade responsibility and help support your teams’ managers in doing the same for their teams.

You will be a role model of cross-functional leadership, setting the bar for not only your team but the engineering and product teams with whom you work closely every day.

  • Leading a team of engineers to define and evolve the architecture and underlying system design to build the scalable platform of the future. You are highly technical and have been an engineer yourself, but this is not a hands-on role

  • Help your teams hire and retain our top talent
  • Ensure the managers you support have highly functional, healthy teams (including assisting in finding opportunities to improve team effectiveness)
