My employer currently offers a High Deductible Health Plan coupled with a Health Savings Account from Bank of America. I currently contribute to the HSA and monthly maintenance fees are waived because it’s an employer-sponsored plan. If I leave my employer, Bank of America will begin charging me a monthly maintenance fee (currently $4.50/month) and I’ll likely no longer contribute to that account. Are there ways to avoid the monthly fee? At the time, will I be able to convert the account to a different administrator who doesn’t charge a fee?
