This card offers 60,000 bonus miles, 0% intro for 1 year at an annual of $99. per year. The 60,000 miles would get you a round trip to Europe or in my case a free one-way to the U.S. from Asia for 35,000 miles plus a round trip within the 48 contiguous U.S. states for 25,000 miles. This is very attractive to me since I will be making this 1-way flight from SGN to GSP for the last time in Jan. 2020.
So I just had an interesting experience that I want to share. My FICO is 760, have 2 established credit cards with a 2.5 year history. In addition, in the past 30 days I closed on my construction loan and was approved for a Chase Unlimited Card with a $7000 credit line.
I applied online for the Barclay card and was denied instantly. I called their reconsideration number, basically out of curiosity, after answering a serious of questions, mostly about why my credit history is so short ( Nutshell - I have lived in SE Asia for 10+ years, and before leaving the US in 2009 canceled my only 2 credit cards for fear of how I could pay them living in a 3rd world country. Two+ years ago I reestablished credit in the US). The representative approved my card, but with only a $700 credit line. My first reaction was to laugh, but then I remembered the reason I was applying, for the miles, not so much the initial credit line. Look at all I get for 99 bucks. A win win for me.
Anyway, that’s the story I wanted to share.
