Too much hassle

Banking with Barclays is not worth the hassle. We used this for our kids savings but have now closed our accounts. It was almost impossible to make deposits as the photos were never acceptable. The phone service was not helpful. The “dream” interest rates were stagnant and quickly outstripped by rates at my credit union

Great Savings Account

I’ve used the Barclays online savings account for two years now. I really enjoy the industry leading interest rate. I’ve never had any issues with depositing funds via the website. I’ve worked in the banking industry for over 15 years and want to comment on the check holds. Check holds of 5 to 7 business days are not uncommon. I’ve only had to contact customer service two or three times, while not the most energetic or happy individuals they were able to solve my issues.

No issues, nice savings rate

Not sure what’s going on with another rater, but I have had no issues with this bank. Everything has gone smoothly. No fees for ACH transfers.

Excellent websiter for savings and CDs

Lots of options to change maturity and interest disbursements online. Rates average.

Amazing rates, BUT…

With rates as great as theirs, there’s got to be a downside. Their customer service is hard to get a hold of, and there’s not really a contact email. They hold external transfers and check deposits for about 5-7 business days, which is quite long. I really just have a savings and CD account with them.

Hard to get your money

they make it very difficult to get your money out of Barclays. Better alternatives out there… CIT, Goldman Sachs

Best cards ever

Always offer intrest free checks. Also offer the lowest rate card I’ve ever found with less than 11% APR.

Rates versus Withdrawal

Ok. If the rates are great and Barclay is only good for savings and CDs…

My question is: How hard would it be to withdraw ALL your money out AFTER reaching your goal, for example: for investing or retirement? And why?

bad system

The online webpage only gives you an “error” message, does not tell you which information you fill out is wrong. It will then just say call their customer service, but their customer service are very hard to navigate to a real person. Once a real person is reached, it also does not tell you which information you fill out is wrong, and he/she will just say mail your documentation to the bank. The whole opening account experience is horrible as its technology is not from this time, at least 10 years behind current standard.
