I can’t seem to load up their website, but BBB gives it a A-

I do pretty desperately need to consolidate debt as I am just treading water right now, but have a lot of concerns. First off, if I do debt consolidation, is that a black mark on my credit report? Also, how do I make sure I’m not getting screwed? How do I know they won’t just sell off my loan to another company that just turns around and changes the terms? It happened with my mortgage - twice.

Do your proper research on this company with the BBB etc. Read the fine print with the agreement/documents they send you to determine what they can do with the loan or offer if you commit to them. I think the key question you should ask yourself before you decide on a debt consolidation offer is what does your budget show with net income per month compared to all your expenses per month. Once you determine/compare your net income to all expenses per month then you can make an informed decision on whether a debt consolidation is helpful long term or is just a temporary fix that could lead you to long term financial issues. Key is a balanced budget long term without use of credit to cover expenses each month.
